  1. Wife suggested cutting the grass today, first time since October, before it rains again tomorrow. First cut is always a bit of a battle, which I expected, but despite all the rain it was pretty dry. A couple of dry days, sun and a breeze has worked wonders.
  2. On Sunday I went an early morning Porsche club run to a breakfast meet, we drove across part of Dartmoor looping into N.Devon and briefly into Cornwall before breakfast at Strawberry Fields Lifton. It wasn't cold but was horrendously wet and misty, a bit like speedboating but enjoyable nonetheless especially as there's no salt on the roads unlike during the misery months of December and January Yesterday and today we had two gorgeous dry, sunny and almost warm days, so both cars are now clean and shiny for next time No threat of snow now, unlike the absolute trauma of this week in 1978, so I should be driving up to Race Retro on Friday but sadly it's been so wet that the show's been cancelled because of floods in Stoneleigh. Looking on the bright side, all this rain means the reservoirs have filled up so the hosepipe bans shouldn't reoccur this year Still the nights are pulling out, the birds are singing and spring is rapidly approaching, hopefully warm and dry leading to a long and hot summer
  3. A lovely bright sunny day today with lots of blue sky today down here in Devon. Fabulous hint of oncoming Spring
  4. ANYWEATHER It’s clouded over now, but still bright and dry
  5. Weather-history I’ve got tickets for Race Retro on the 23rd, so that is definitely weather I’m not looking forward to.
  6. My preferences don't change. I love the longer evenings and warmer weather, I hate our cold dark winters.
  7. I said I didn’t understand why people wanted deep cold, I didn’t whinge or criticise as that’s their choice and their opinion. Mine happens to be different. As for the effects of cold weather, that’s science. Deal with it.
  8. There’s more virus transmission in the winter because people are indoors breathing on each other. Hot weather can kill the old and vulnerable, but cold weather kills more people
  9. I was a pharmacist for forty years, we used get older folk in all the time saying that cold weather would “kill all the bugs”. I used to tell them it won’t kill the bugs, but it could kill people so make sure to keep warm!
  10. I’m not keen on cold weather, but it’s winter and seeing the sun makes it bearable. I really don’t understand the apparent love in the MOD thread for “deep cold”. However it’s snow I really hate, makes the roads dangerous, pavements tricky and generally screws life up. I’d be happy never to see it snow again in this country.
  11. The snow at the end of November was really weird. It snowed in west Cornwall and around Ivybridge in South Hams, but not on Dartmoor where it was expected. We had a clear run to Okehampton and Tavistock on the 30th
  12. No doubt unpopular on here, but as someone who has to do quite a lot of travelling over the Christmas period I'm just relieved that snow and ice seem unlikely in southern England
  13. I've never liked cold dark winters and over the years I've grown to absolutely loathe cold weather. Personally I can't wait to get January over and done with, not helped by losing both parents in that month, and look forward to see the evenings pull out and the temperatures rise. I love warm and hot weather with bright sunshine and being able to wear a T-shirt and shorts every day.
