  1. Found this over on the Winter discussion thread. Matt Hugo shares his thoughts on how winter 23/24 might unfold. Something for everyone...
  2. Trip up to Aviemore this morning, headed up to Cairngorm Mountain. Winter has definitely arrived there, 3c and driving rain at the carpark. Heavy snow at the summit.
  3. Not much in the Met Office daily forecast that warrants sticking on the winters just yet. Mind you, theses daily forecasts have been hit or miss for a while.
  4. A dry bright and cool start. I was planning on switching to winter tyres this weekend but the metoffice 10 day trend has put me off.
  5. Lightning fast on my mobile phone
  6. Dog walker films winds lifting forest floor in Scotland WWW.BBC.CO.UK David Nugent-Malone captures the ground "moving like sea" in Mugdock while walking his dog, Jake.
  7. Daylights starting to crack and the hard surfaces around the house are much drier than last night. Wind has died down and it's dry. Dodged a bullet around here!
  8. Internet and 4g data knocked out for a bit. The wind has definitely picked up while the rain has eased off. Bit brighter now than earlier on.
  9. Fortunately Cairn William and the Pitfichie hills are taking the brunt of the weather. Feels like a get out of jail card
  10. Steady rain with a bit of wind. Temperature 9c but feeling a good bit cooler. All good so far.
  11. ^^ Casually flipping through my book of "won't be into work today" excuses. Despite waving the Met Office warnings under some jobsworth nose, he assured me "we'll all be outside tomorrow " Aye right
  12. Is the red warning not for Stonehaven down to Arbroath/Dundee? Still undecided on commuting tomorrow/Friday, a couple of days off work might be sensible.
  13. Met office upgrades to Amber warnings for parts of Scotland ahead of Storm Babet.
  14. 0c again this morning. Started garaging the car overnight to avoid the ordeal of having to scrape ice.
  15. Noticeably colder this morning, 2.5c on the car display at the house. Colder again on the approach to Westhill. The roads are bone dry so no issue with ice.
  16. A very mild day at Ellon, car display showed 19c at 16.30. Currently 18c in the Vale of Alford with a fairly strong wind.
  17. Normal service has been resumed after the weekend deluge. Dry with sunny intervals, mild with the temperature currently 14c in Ellon. Hints of colder conditions over the weekend
