  1. in theory, yes that what its there for. but those getting 'likes' are those predicting, however accurate or not, what the majority want to hear, and has nothing to do with the thought, unbiased appraisal, and knowledge some members post. post a ramp to satisfy the masses, get the star of popularity. easy. so imho the points system, the likes, have nothing to do with the integrity of a post for most of the time, but has more to do with telling the masses what they want to hear. this makes it pointless.
  2. i dont use the ignore function, im not in favour of censorship, and im no fan if the 'like' points system eith, it feeds egos.
  3. completely agree.... which makes that thread hard to take seriously if you dont 'play the game' . if you want an unbiased, realistic view on whats really likely to happen, you have to dig hard to find it.
  4. lovely morning here, mild, breezy but DRY.... ok, it wont last but by the time the rain gets here i would have done most of my work.
  5. ............ id prefer the beatles - 'tomorrow never knows'
  6. huh?... not sure on whether this is serious or not.... my head hurts! lol theres no anomaly support for significant ridging over scandinavia, not on the noaa 6-10,8-14 day charts anyway. the times the ops out trump the anoms in that timeframe are miniscule. the outlook remains unsettled from the west or north of west.
  7. we are not going to agree on this, i detest frost... i dislike autumn because the party (summer) is over, its obvious our tastes are the polar opposite of eachother! lol
  8. you seem to have a rather narrow view of what constitutes 'autumn' weather. autumn, possibly more then any other season is one where theres a variety of weather types that are all 'seasonal'. wet windy stormy, clear calm sunny, warm or cold anf frosty, fog too..
  9. 'downgrades' have been going on all summer, promised settled spells have not materialised, we have had a strong jet stream and still have one somewhere. so it should really come as no surprise to anyone, except newbies, that a fi prediction of a cold blast is taken off the table, for now at least. the point being - it doesnt happen to fi cold spells alone.
  10. ecm isnt far off either...... but im not so sure about it being overly warm. after all this moisture, calm air, clear shies.... reckon fog could be an issue, so whilst the air might be warm/muggy, if we get fog itll temper the temperatures, lol.
  11. smashing day today, great to see the blood sun , the eerie twilight as heavy clouds pass over, the warmth and breeze. nice to experience something a little different
  12. ............. says the person most vocal about folk who have different views on heat/humidity
  13. eh?..... im no fan of the azores high, as long as thats there we get a westerly airflow, not the yearned for southerly.
  14. phil avery did on the tellybox, sun/mon in any sun temps could reach 23c even higher 24c..
  15. a nice warm/very warm spell is nailed, but its nothing new, unusual nor exceptional. spells like this are to be expected as part of the fabric of a normal autumn. it very rarely gets cold this soon.
  16. .... and i dont get how anybody could like being cold...
  17. knockers comprehensive and detailed posts are so good that it doesnt leave much else to say tbh, long may that last too
  18. well this unsettled theme cannot continue forever, long time unsettled is often followed by a long time of settled, and settled in winter means a good chance of cold.
  19. how dreadfully boring and average the outlook is......
  20. completely agree, im no fan of snow but i prefer snow to cold rain. it doesnt matter what you wear, itll keep you dry to an extent, the damp cold penetrates, you breathe it in, it cuts exposed skin, it gives you colds... in warm rain, i strip off to work! (top only obvs lol) as rainproof clothing only makes you seat. its actually quite pleasurable.
  21. you have nothing to moan about then, how often is 35c breeched in sheffield?
  22. unlikely, as i hate cold, i feel cold, i can cope far better with heat, which is why i like what i do. i dare say others who can cope with cold feel differently. doesnt it make all this pointless moaning about it seem rather daft though? (yes i do include myself in this criticism)
  23. ....... you could say that about cold rain... and to repeat my point just made, you clearly dont work outside, if you did youd soon change your minds about which type of rain is 'best'... trust me,.
