The burst of heavy rain just now woke me up, but seems like I might have missed the rumbles reported earlier as I was sound-o. Bleeding typical!
Can't see any flashes mind you, has the electrical activity died?
After writing that less than an hour ago, I've heard a rumble of thunder. Not sure if it will amount to much, but it's made me feel a bit more optimistic now.
My initial hopes for today in my neck of the woods is starting to diminish as the day goes on.
Had thick cloud now for a couple of hours or so, and feels distinctly fresher and less humid.
Compared to Monday and yesterday, today feels like it could get going storm wise in the SE today.
Feels more humid and just feels more like things could spark later this afternoon
You didn't really miss much. I caught it out of the corner of my eye while watching Corrie. Paused the TV and just about heard a distant rumble... and that was it!!
Fingers crossed we have better luck tomorrow and Wednesday
I wouldn't worry, a MET Office warning is usually the kiss of death for anything to actually happen. Plus Monday is a few days away and always subject to change.
Multiple reports of fires breaking out around Bexley, Crayford and Dartford. Can see plumes of smoke all around.
This heat is hellish today. Does anyone have a rough time when things will feel cooler in the SE? And do we have any prospect of rain/thunder to help put the fires out?
Was windy earlier this morning with rain. Then we had blue skies and sunshine. It's clouded over and things are definitely picking up now! Windows literally sound like they are cracking when the winds pick up.
I've lived in this house for 20 years and never heard the wind sound so bad!
I expect there will be a few selfish idiots posing for Instagram and Tic Tok photos for 'likes' on cliff edges or on sea fronts in the coming 24 hours putting our emergency service personnel at risk
