Instead of blaming flooding after rain (nothing out of the ordinary) or flooding after a thunder storm (again, looking back over the years, nothing out of the ordinary), let's think back 20 or more years when there was a regular road sweeper/machines that cleaned leaves and debris from clogging drains. People employed at all the local parks and open spaces, making sure rivers and the like were clear from anything that could block flow and cause flooding.
Not forgetting the green spaces being built on without consideration of problems.
I'm not saying that global warming isn't a thing, but let's be sensible when everything gets blamed on that, rather than general maintenance of our roads, drains and rivers.
