  1. I’ve followed this forum for a long time and finally joined a few years ago. I don’t post much at all, but I honestly can’t believe what I’m seeing in these models - after years of hype and excitement turning into disappointment. Unbelievable. Ed
  2. Same here, CCTV camera just caught a wheelie bin making a hasty bid for freedom. It’s wild out there, far worse than Friday.
  3. Already lost a couple of fence panels and 2 roof tiles. Single glazed window is rattling more than I do after my morning meds. MO saying 70-72mph gust for us between 3 and 6. Hoping the sea defences are better, and the tides lower (not checked them today), than ‘77.
  4. I’d better tie the grandkids’ trampoline down. We’re right on the seafront, the house we just bought has a roof that’s not been maintained since the 30’s by the looks of it. Seems we may be replacing that sooner than anticipated. Ed.
  5. It’s always frustrating here on the fylde coast but this winter and last have pushed me to the edge. Snow starved southerners indeed... time to look at houses in the Cairngorms, I think. Ed.
  6. Evening all! I'm currently stuck in the weeble end of nowhere with terrible internet, which means I’m unable to view images including model runs etc. I’m due to travel to Luss for work tomorrow, can anyone give me a clue as to road conditions and expected weather? Any more snow expected in that area over the next 72 hours? Cheers, Ed.
  7. Many thanks for this, and to @Day 10. I didn’t realise there was a guides section to the forum, I’m sure that would be of great help. I didn’t even consider YouTube, he loves to watch storm chasing documentaries on there so I’m sure that’ll please him no end. I would offer to help him myself but he lives around 80 miles from me and likes to learn alone (which is a good thing because if I’m being entirely honest, I just don’t have the patience to help that much!) Thanks again fellas, Ed.
  8. Afternoon guys, hope we’re all well today. Probably the wrong place to ask this but I can’t figure out where would be the right place, so if anyone could answer or advise where to ask I’d be grateful. My nephew hew has decided he wants to learn about weather/forecasting etc. He’s 20 but has learning difficulties, so where would you say is a good place to start for him that’s fairly simple and internet based (he struggles with books)? I learned mostly from books and added to my knowledge on the internet so I’m not sure where would be a good starting point. Cheers, Ed.
  9. Woke at 2.30am and genuinely expected to be in Oz by morning! ‘Twas very blustery here on the coast! Ed.
  10. We now have a yellow wind warning to go with our rain warning. Ed.
  11. Wind seems to be picking up here now. We may not get snow very often, but the fylde coast does wind fairly well at times! Ed.
  12. I’m new here and a bit of a technophobe, so apologies if this is (as I suspect) a daft question. I’ve been doing a lot of reading through the site and thought I’d add details to my profile (area, weather prefs etc), but it’s saying I can’t edit this profile. Am am I missing something or is it because I’m a new/non-paying member? Cheers, Ed.
