Just boring cold rain. If it wasn't for the snow in early December this winter would get a rating of 0

If I remember well, a couple of them are identical records and again someone can say the same as you did: The new records are also very close to temps recorded in 1949, 1968, 1906 or whatever.
That said, we can't deny the periodical nature of "extreme" temperatures. It seems there's a one-sided way of looking at all this and different opinions/voices are right away treated as wrong.
Don't be ridiculous.
Global warming is a fact. There are no "opinions" here

Hopefully when I retire I'll have enough to have options and really think hard where I want to spend the last stretch of my life . This country is becoming increasingly frustrating.
And the weather is just a small part of the picture of course.

And basically in the rest of England. This is probably the only country in the world where we don't have a proper summer, but we don't have a proper winter either.
Sick and tired of it honestly.

Wow!!! This wasn't expected! Darlo looks like a winter wonderland today. I woke up at around 4:30, I opened the window to one of the most beautiful snowfall I have seen... Bug fluffy snowflakes and no wind ...
It definitely added a few more centimeters of snow overnight . enjoy everyone

Everything seems to be dieing of death as soon as it hits land. When are we due the met warnings to materialise.
I'm by no means an expert. But IF something happens and it's a big if, we won't see anything at least until around midnight , in my opinion

A thing that always amuses me is the amount of people who say "let's get the cold in first, once it's here it's very hard to displace it "
Like we lived in Canada... It literally takes ONE DAY for the uk to go from, say -2, to 12!!! It's hilarious

I counted literally 10 snow flakes in Darlo for like 30 seconds... all clear now

Let's not jinx it! No shield this year! We can do that!

That time of year again where I appear! Noticed there's a meltdown as per usual on the Winter thread from the southerners
We might get a bit lucky over the next week or so up here I reckon
Every year it's the same. It's quite funny isn't it?!?
Actually I think your location may do better than the rest of the North East this time, but only time will tell

How it started..
How it's going..
You can see the difference in the positioning of the high and just how much the GFS has shifted things SEwards in the last day or two.
I don't understand, honestly, why people on this forum still follow GFS when has been proven, time and over again, that for our NECK OF THE WOODS, is always way off the mark.
Really, why?

Something more seasonal coming up later this week but as yet nothing out of the ordinary.
Fine details still to be agreed but the trend seems to place the Atlantic high a little too close to maintain a northerly for long.
It does look like a glancing blow at the end of the week, more for the north and east.
It will get colder for sure but apart from a few wintry showers up north it's likely to be mainly dry with some frosts.
Spot on. It's going to be colder and a tad under the average in terms of temperatures. But it's not Narnia what's being forecasted at the moment unfortunately
