  1. In a cold spell where some are measuring in feet, this is our first covering.
  2. Amazing scenes some parts of the country, reminiscent of 81 if not surpassing it. In Manchester there has been no cover whatsoever.
  3. Even the places that have had heavy snow all night dont seem to have much in the way of accumulation yet. Any totals more than an inch or two?
  4. Is the wind foeecast to veer round north of east at any point? Might be game on then. Clutching at straws to be honest. Live in the hole. Die in the hole.
  5. Been snowing since 11pm last night in stockport. No accumulation except on roofs cars and grass. Poor show.
  6. I can never remember a winter with so many hours of continous, non marginal snow events eith so little in the way of accumulation. About 2cm is my best this winter. This current event oh so predictable though.
  7. Those who doubted the shadow effect didnt have the local experience. Seen it more times than I can remember. Need a nwly with cold air already embedded or a raging nely.
  8. Snow only light in intensity in stockport. Although blowing a gale. Grasd and cars covered by not roads or paths. Pretty much as I expected so no let down.
  9. Small flakes blowing about in stockport for half an hour. Not settling. At work all night..not looking forward to the drive home.
  10. Never wish for a stall unless under the front. Or you hate snow.
  11. Latest automated update on bbc (17.24) has upped the ante a bit for south manchester. Still only the light snow symbol but its present for a lot of the hourly slots over 36hrs till sunday lunchtime.. Previously a lot more dry overcast symbols.
  12. Im working a nightshift so will be dropping in overnight to check whats happening in the region.
  13. I guarantee this event will not see the the 2010 one pale in comparison. In manchester that is.
  14. Local historical evidence leads me to think NAE predictions are correct Stephen at least in my neck of the woods. Similar events over the past 10-15 years have seen light precipitation only here in South Manchester. I'm expecting another pivot. Some parts of the region will do very well out of this. I'm expecting just a couple of cm covering at best. Would love to be wrong this time.
  15. It won't be as noticeable this time because it will be overnight but this is what I expect to happen.... Front making rapid progress before slowing down over staffs/Cheshire. Large accumulations in areas to the south and south west of manchester. Front then on making painstaking progress north/north east. Precipation light in nature and accumulations meagre. Precipitation then intensifying all areas north and east of manchester. Possible pivot of front with certain areas receiving continuous heavy snow, centre point of pivot hardly any cover.
