  1. Andy Bown You made me bring up the radar and looks like we might have had some but only ground is wet cars are dry. I really hope we get some dry sunny weather today as yesterday was terrible it rained all day.
  2. raz.org.rain Interesting that the article was written 18 years ago. " A 39-year-old environmental consultant, Mr Diacono has no doubt that UK temperatures are becoming suitable for olive cultivation. "There's no question that the climate is going to get there," he said. "It's just, have I done this 10 years too early or 20 years too early?". I wonder if it worked out for him? A new Italian garden with ancient olive trees is being built this summer on the seafront in the appropriately named "Italian Garden". It might have been Italian a long time ago but for decades its mostly been cordyline australis there. The cordylines have been chopped down and the new garden is being built this spring. Alot of people were upset at the loss of the cordylines but there must be tens of thousands of those growing in the bay so its no real loss. The new garden should be much better.
  3. Its been a great late winter day here with an early taste of spring in the sunshine which was lovely and warm out of the breeze. I thought I would have seen more flowers than I did but we have had a few cold spells recently. But the magnolia is just starting to come out, and I saw plenty of wasps although I've been seeing those all winter. Some fruit that's ripened through the winter too. Palm fruit and olive trees full of fruit. I'm not sure when they get that in Italy maybe late summer, early autumn but I guess you have to wait until February in the UK for an olive crop!
  4. WYorksWeather Not only are SST's likely bottoming out with all the mild air around, but UV is now on the rise. It will be up to level 2 today as far north as Bristol.
  5. Looks like its snowing on the Kingsbridge cam. Could be rain but looks like snow. Some heavier precip heading into Salcombe but cam is pitch black and there's a spiders web over it. https://www.camsecure.co.uk/kingsbridge_webcam.html
  6. Here in Torquay we've had storms. It's literally 19C at 03:30am, humidity 95%, lots of heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and the sea temp is currently 20.1C!!! Not bad as we approach mid September. Also it's disgustingly humid tonight.
  7. Torquay webcam has been great viewing this morning. Looks like an interesting day. https://www.camsecure.co.uk/torquay_sea_view.html
  8. Another Cell just went over. As it moved away some cloud was forming underneath and lowering.
  9. Nice little cell just passed over Torquay. Dropped some heavy rain and small hail, or it was the sound of the wind lashing the rain against the window. But it sounded like small hail.
  10. 21C here on the coast and humidity 50% and falling. When I took a walk into town it didn't feel fresh at all, and even though its cloudy it felt like a warm summers day.
  11. Just got off the Meaco website. The Meaco Fan 1056 will arrive on tuesday. Finally I will get some sleep I can't take it any longer!
  12. When I left the house earlier today I had to do a few things somewhere but it would be mostly indoors so I hadn't but any sunscreen on. But the sky was such a deep blue that I went back in and put some sunscreen on anyway. Glad I did now, it looked so clear.
  13. The Fog came over here to the Bay. I was busy all day but just got down to the seafront as it approached. It was quite the site with lots of people taking pictures. The wind had switched SE so although it came very close it didn't hit the main part of Torquay beach.
  14. Mmmm. I think Torquay right now as I'm typing might have the lowest humidity in the UK. EDIT: Probably not the lowest but very close.
