  1. It looks like this September will comfortably get an above average CET. Warm Septembers don't bode well for cold winters.

      It's not necessarily the temperature, it's the rainfall. Dry Septembers don't bode as well for cold Winters as unsettled Septembers but look here in my sample space featuring the September EWP and Winter CET for years that contained a notably cold Winter, a Winter with some notable cold/snow events etc. There's actually more dry Septembers (for EWP anyway) than I would have thought that was followed by cold Winters (or Winters with notable cold/snow events at some stage).
