  1. Nov 2010 aside I’m wary of early season/ late autumn cold - a cm of snow in late Nov 2021 was all we had that Winter.
  2. No sign of a rain shadow here moderate rain already knocking on the door of S Cheshire from the south, cool, dark & grim hopefully a showery but better day tomorrow. A soggy night for bonfire & firework displays before then though - wellies definitely required! ️
  3. Disgusting afternoon - wet & wild out there but like others have said nowhere near as bad as down south. The lovely island of Jersey in particular got really hit hard tornadoes, hail and some really dangerous conditions overnight ️ 🌬
  4. Ah bless him well those showers were a good introduction Heavy rain still going here in Sandbach lots of surface water flooding ️
  5. Some torrential showers over S Cheshire currently sky is pitch black ️
  6. Another pleasant Sunday with sunny spells and not too chilly - luckily the NW looks to be avoiding currently the worst of Storm Ciaran’s winds into Thursday but a spell of heavy rain for all looks likely with the strongest winds over the far SE & South Coast, Isle of Wight, Channel Islands & Northern France - early warnings are now out. Hopefully it doesn’t move any further north as that puts London and the SE Home Counties commuter belt in the firing line and the impacts that will bring for an area not used to severe wind storms. Will be interesting if we continue to see this southerly storm track into the Winter months - think the lockdown Winter of 2020/21 saw this at times with cold air digging south giving the inland NW marginal but occasionally heavy snowfalls from late Dec post Xmas to early Feb - even Crewe saw some measurable snow! ️
  7. Close to 30c in DC & New York this weekend though - fall proper into next week though just in time for Halloween always a big deal over there.
  8. A Misty/foggy start here in S Cheshire this morning the first proper misty morning of the season - chilly at 3c
  9. A lovely mellow October Sunday great for a dog walk & to unwind a real difference to Friday’s storm. Hazy sunshine and 12c
  10. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a wet start to November at least - seems the direction of travel. Wet autumns don’t tend to lead to wet winters so hopefully we get a chance of blocking in the right place this year. A repeat of last years December cold but with some meaningful snow would be perfect.
  11. Sounds like the Manchester rain shadow effect. If it had been a winter snow event it probably would have been one of those rare occasions where locations 'out of the shadow' such as Crewe, Liverpool & Chester would have seen more snow than the likes of Stockport, Gtr MCR, Tameside etc... 18th Jan 2013 is a good example - several cm and heavy snow here, a dusting in Stockport.
  12. We haven’t seen any real rain shadow here in S Cheshire rain eased off slightly early afternoon but both wind & rain have picked up again this past hour or so ️
  13. Torrential rain early doors easing to heavy-moderate rain here in S Cheshire quite a bit of surface water flooding about too this all before the Amber Warning kicks in. A big rainfall event even for this part of the world.
  14. S Cheshire in the Amber Warning zone tomorrow heaviest rainfall totals look more to our East/ South with a rain shadow effect possible perhaps for N Cheshire/ Gtr MCR like others have mentioned but a wet & windy day for all looks likely stay safe out on the roads & near rivers.
  15. First day I’ve felt human for about 5 days since catching the dreaded norovirus no fun at all but over the worst of it now hopefully What with the very warm weather recently it’s felt quite a sudden descent into Autumn had a few heavy showers early this morning but bright & crisp currently
  16. A very warm for October day today just nudging 21c (daily local record breaker?) with hazy sunshine - a kind of day you normally get in late August but with a more mellow Indian Summer feel, the trees changing colour and the noticeably shortening days there’s no mistaking Autumn ‘proper’ is just around the corner ️
  17. Grim afternoon - steady rain that’s just got increasingly heavier in the past hour or so ️
  18. A windy night some big gusts, noticeable but nothing noteworthy currently. Signs of a stormy core of Autumn perhaps though? ️
  19. Autumn ‘proper’ arriving next week maybe our first named storm of the season too? ️
  20. Had a light rain shower just over an hour or so ago, some sunny spells feeling humid & sticky still - 21c. Latest Storm ⛈ Update on UK Weather Updates Twitter puts most of NW England in the strong (orange) zone. Highest severe storm risk over the Peaks, Pennines & Yorkshire.
  21. 29c (feels like 31c) here in SE Cheshire hazy sun hot & humid although maybe not as humid as Thursday that with some high cloud was an absolute sweat box! Might just match the 30c we saw in June’s heatwave before the day is out.
  22. Early September is usually pleasant but some stunning weather to come over the next week - maybe a September to remember?
  23. Some beefy showers over S Cheshire currently - torrential rain ️
  24. Having a rumble of thunder with these showers this afternoon ⛈
  25. Chatting to friends down south and they have had a decent few days up here you would be forgiven for thinking we are entering autumn already dull & dark. Here’s hoping we have a nice September to make up for what’s been a poor summer June aside.
