  1. Yeah, we really did. I can confirm we have snow down here at 60m asl
  2. Snow in Dorking. I repeat snow in Dorking It’s not actually falling, just whirling around in the wind...
  3. Ah, you are just under five miles away (and over 100 metres up) from me - I hope you do well out of this!
  4. I am at 60m asl between Box Hill (224m) and Holmbury Hill (261m) in Dorking so often in a bit of a rain/snow shadow!
  5. So, I booked a trip to Canada and the States for early Feb so I would definitely see some snow/cold weather (and to see some family I guess). Last year I took off from Heathrow in Storm Emma. I posted through it on here as The plane was de-iced then the runway was closed and the plane was de-iced again. I fly out on Saturday and land in Calgary before travelling on to Banff where, come Sunday, I should expect a high of -23 and a wind chill of -30. I am actually quite worried about it and I think my adventure in the Rockies is going to end up being a few days spent in a hotel room .
  6. Where abouts in Surrey are you? General area if you don’t want to disclose sensitive info
  7. Ah, glad it paid off for you and glad I could help make sure it was not a wasted trip!
  8. More snow up on Box Hill than down here at 60 metres above sea level!
  9. If I remember, I will walk to work the way that I can see Box Hill and let you know how it looks. Nothing was settling but it was about an hour ago now!
  10. Drove from Purley Way to Dorking about 7-7:30 (was there to buy some cheap warm gear for my trip to the Canadian Rockies on Saturday) and it was raining then very very heavily sleeting then snowing at the top of Pebble Hill. Driving down into town and it turned back to sleet but now it’s snow. I think the MetO will be spot on with their ice warning, there’s so much standing water out there - massive puddles on main roads. Be safe tomorrow folks.
  11. Absolutely stunning walk to work through Dorking this morning, although only just thawed out...
  12. Finally properly snowing in Dorksville after walking home in the cold cold slizzle!
  13. As far as I can see there is no snow in the Box Hill neck of the woods (although it’s now quite dark so it may have started falling!)
  14. I am in Dorking and I can’t see any snow out the office window yet...
  15. Still falling sporadically to 100 metres (we are walking the dogs).
  16. It was a still from a video so cheating a bit. It was never really overhead here, just rumbled to the south west and then the north east! Best storm we have had though (we have had one night with three loud rumbles of thunder all summer).
  17. Thunder and lightning to the north east of Dorking and this to the west
  18. Second picture going under and first picture coming out the other side!
  19. Six flashes and rumbles and counting. Double the amount we have had this year so far
  20. Flash o’ lightning followed by a distant rumble of thunder in Dorking
  21. I quite often mistake planes taking off at Gatwick for thunder! Sky’s gone all kind of atmospheric and yellowish here.
  22. On the edge in Dorking. About 10 drops of rain about 7pm. Nothing since then. Edit to add this is looking WNW
