  1. barely a glancing blow on those frames, the northerly fast becoming a NW'ly barely affecting anywhere south of the Midlands
  2. I so hope you're correct - and hope that i'm not too close to the coast to join in the fun ! Either way, exciting times ahead . . .
  3. After the recent floods, Aberdeenshire about to get buried . . .
  4. that can only be decided at a future date. For now, each thinks they're right otherwise what would be the point of their production and why would we bother analysing each run ?
  5. It also doesn't mean the models are wrong. Your argument cuts both ways.
  6. I moved to the Highlands (Nairn) from Leigh on Sea at the beginning of last year. We are fortunate here in Nairn as we are in the 'shadows' of the mountains which tend to keep the rain and cloud and leave us with clear skies which is great for the aurora during the autumn and winter months. I was told that Nairn has its own microclimate before I moved here and, having spent the last 18 months here I have to say that it's true !
  7. You can bet your mortgage that 1050mb Greenie high will be nowhere to be seen over the winter months . . .
  8. 15th August here - right now we have twilight between 00.30 and 02.30 before the sky lights up ahead of sunrise Thank goodness for blackout curtains !!
  9. A couple of moderate showers here in Nairn, small flakes but high intensity, have left a covering. Currently -5
  10. sorry, a bit late to the party, but this was our view in Nairn on Sunday night - breathtaking :)
  11. It's a wonderful place and we chose a perfect place to relocate to - quaint and relatively unspoilt, long summer days and longer winter nights. Stunning scenery, stunning beaches and the benefit of Inverness on our doorstep. Anyway, best get back on topic . . .
  12. I wanted to move to the Highlands about 10 years ago. Thankfully, this desire was fulfilled early this year - wished I'd have done it sooner.
  13. Significant thaw here in Nairn since about 3pm yesterday. Still a fair bit on the ground but expect it all to go over the next 24-36 hours. Hopefully more snow in time for the Xmas period.
  14. I visit both this and the Scotland thread. I am sure that other people north of the border do the same, however I do find that there is very little mention of Scottish weather on this thread with contributors seeming to comment on weather that will affect their local/areas of England - a point I have made recently when weather charts were posted which went as far as the England/Scotland border. How inclusive !!!
