  1. Much more like it, a good spring day with decent sunny spells, a max of 12c and a steady Southerly wind helping dry things out. Not often you see a birch tree wrapped around a pine tree..
  2. Really is a poor start to spring. Soggy yesterday and today, though rain intermittent this afternoon with even some hints of brightness. Cool at 6c with steady NW breeze.
  3. Finally, the sun god has returned since last visiting on the 4th Mar. All thanks to the shift in wind direction to the SW, and a gusty wind at that. Temperature also picked up, now 10c so warmest for over a week. Ordinary blue sky but oh how good to see thee!
  4. Day 7 of Aberdeenshire Permagloom™, getting a tad grating now. Cool (4c) with 100% cloud cover and drizzle off and on in the gentle SE breeze.
  5. As above, just vile. 4.5c, steady light rain being blown in on a, at times, brisk east wind. Great day for cloudscapes
  6. Good day (or should I say week) for Pantone Grey spotting... Hint of drizzle in the gentle east wind and a frigid feeling 4c. Spring is not exactly getting off to a great start.
  7. Aberdeenshire Permagloom™ in all its glory once again, with sporadic light rain being blown in on a steady SE wind. Add in a temperature of only 5c and its most definitely winterlike outside.
  8. Grim weather matched by the grim number of responses to this thread! Persistent moderate rain in the morning, now dry but very slow drying of wet hard surfaces (and its mud ahoy elsewhere). Feeling cold in a steady SE wind; thermometer alleges its 6.9c outside.
  9. After a wet weekend, that has returned the lawn to a marsh, new week off to a mainly sunny start. Overnight low of -3c, currently 5c with a steady SSW wind. Warm in the sun, definitely winter in the shade!
  10. Welcome to the first day of spring, winter says hold on and delivers a bitter start to the day as it's -5c at the moment with frost sparkling on the grass. Calm conditions and beautiful clear blue skies.
  11. Respectable couple of days with good spells of sunshine and just a few fleeting showers. Frosty overnight, max today 6.5c with a stiff SW wind in the morning. Crocuses and Miniature Iris now in full bloom, a little earlier than last year.. Kids this evening exploring the chance of missing school tomorrow thanks to the spring show up at Thainstone. The suggestion got short shrift...
  12. Beautiful clear start to the day, calm and everything white with frost Met Office forecast way out on temperature prediction as it's currently -6.3c compared to their prediction of -1c.
  13. Lovely sunny start to the day but a chilly one, currently -4c with the lawn sparkling white. Calm conditions.
  14. Feeling very springlike out there today. 11c, but feeling warmer thanks to very light winds and plenty of sunshine
  15. Finally emerging after Mr Covid paid a unwelcome visit last weekend - nasty little blighter.. Calm, overcast and some spits of rain in the wind - currently 7c. Was reading about the drought situation in the med and went over the European Drought Observatory - really surprised to see they are still recording a moisture deficit across a lot of Western Scotland...
  16. Slushfest out there with the remaining snow from yesterday evening slowly fading away. 1.3c with a strong East wind blowing in pulses of rain/sleet. Grumpy kids as a result, no snow to play in and too wet to go out. Perfectly timed midterm break
  17. A few snow showers earlier on has left about 1cm on the ground. Debatable that it will be all there in the morning as surprised to see temperature has risen over the last few hours from -1.3c at 5pm to 2c now, with a definite thaw on the roof. Stiff easterly wind as well encouraging the dog to do it's business quicker than usual!
  18. Lovely crisp morning (currently -2.5c) with light winds, plenty of sunshine and a covering of fluffy snow.
  19. I admire the optimism of the weather station, not a chance of snow in reality. Steady moderate rain and ground saturated once more.
  20. Decent day overall here with the rain only arriving around 9pm. Max of 8c, generally light winds and some hazy sunshine - especially in the morning. Lots of snowdrops in full bloom up at Castle Fraser and even the grass looks to have started a little bit of growth.
  21. What a contrast to the hint of spring yesterday. This time yesterday enjoying a sunny lunch outside and 13.6c (sheltered from wind...). Not a chance today, a Baltic feeling 6.4c thanks to a strong and gusty westerly wind; much cloudier as well.
  22. Very mild out there, already 11c with a stiff westerly wind and plenty of sunshine. Time to clearout the garden... Nice cloudscapes first thing. Curious darker banding seen in what appeared to be clear blue sky (pollution contrails??)..
  23. Twas a impressive squall line earlier on for sure... Dry at the moment with even some hints of the sun breaking through the Aberdeenshire Permagloom™; theoretically mild at 7.5c but sure doesn't feel like it in the wind. Very gusty SW winds causing chaos with the bins locally (these days collections always seem to coincide with a wind warning....)
  24. Very cold morning, -5c at 7am but rising now to -3.9c. Clear blue skies and calm conditions. Alas no sunrise to match the sunset yesterday...
  25. Downright stormy out there and worse than the yellow alert earlier in the week!
