God I've not posted in months. All I'll say is it's the start of January. We still have two months of winter so I wouldn't worry. A friend of mine lives in Calgary and it's -35 . That's crazy. The weather forecast for next week will change as we get closer so not stress

Has anyone noticed that when it does rain ..here in Sevenoaks anyway on the road it looks like washing up liquid has been poured as cars drive through puddles ..soap suds appear it looks like ..I would have took pic but it dried to quickly
Pretty sure thatll be the water mixing with oil from vehicles. Extremely slippery when wet goes the saying
Just had steady rain in Ipswich..rather refreshing. A chilly day today, even wore a jacket over the park. Hoping for warmer weather soon...30c is about right.
Although im off to california and las vegas early September and i have no doubt itll be in the late 30's early 40's still

36c in Cambridge before 11!! Holy moly . Id expect at this current rate 43 could be the figure come 3/4pm?
-
27c in Ipswich before 0900. Alot warmer than the same time yesterday so id imagine the record will be breached. Last night we all slept well.
House is comfortable 20c having closed all windows and blinds. Outside is like a crematorium

25c at 0845hrs in Ipswich which is scary tbh. House already locked down. Awning 9ft out and blackout blinds fully operational
5hrs until i melt in the back of an ambulance

Im not sure people realise how hot 40c feels to put it into context..few years ago in vegas it was 43c my insoles of my trainers melted and were sliding up and down and the blue dye from the trainers turned my white sports socks blue
Charts are unprecedented and tbh need to be saved, and framed on your mantelpiece

There's alot of people on here who imo should work for bbc or meto. V accurate analysis and forecasts.
That in mind...my phone app for weather always undercooks temperatures, with the latest models out suggesting 40c quite widely, is it in there opinion overcooking temperatures or are they likely to be under.
Its worrying to think that years ago when people talk of the heatwaves of 76 etc and dating back 40 years and so on that the heat there lasted longer but not as extreme. Is this a sign of things to come from now on? Are we looking at getting temperatures like europe each summer?

We will one day get to 40c. That's not really anything to be excited about as such. It just goes to show each yesr the UK is getting hotter and in 20 years i dread to think what the "norm" is.
There is no "downgrade" as such, 30c is still hot and sunny and bearable for most people.
In 40c people would die, people with conditions would suffer, children, animals etc and our houses aren't made for that weather. Dont forget we dont have AC or shutters on windows like alot of europe.
I say enjoy the weather and look forward to a breakdown of storms whenever it will come. Its nice to have sustained warmth and sun.
I will admit though that fields are yellow. Everything is soooo dry

I think models are probably going to go extreme once again and we'll end up in the middle somewhere. Not too sure i want 43c. I had that in spain last August and its way too hot

Quick question, we have light ppn in South Suffolk Essex way but in Norfolk the showers are organised and intense. Looks obvious on the radar and wondered why

I don't get that how that is melting - maybe your area is above freezing?.. or maybe there's a lot of heat coming off your house
You laugh but just outside my French doors snow doesn't lay.. I try and park my cars facing the house as it doesn't tend to freeze as much lol

Looks like streamers this eve could add to the totals. Harsh frosts, temps wont be lifting tbf and these temps could be here for a while. We have 22cm in Ipswich. I've never seen it like this, actually surprised.
Just think in 3 months we'll be looking at the next hot spell lol

Not surprised, the overnight high resolution models have strengthened the convection coming in, especially tonight . Strong signs of a true Thames streamer late evening into the morning hours embedded as well. AROME for example has a fairly clear streamer path with 7-15cms, with more further east obviously.
Docyiu have a model that's hows this please

Wow now that's ridiculous. This country would grind to a halt. We did with 5cm not let alone 5 metres. I think we need to be careful what we wish for . I prefer summer but even then as you know where you're from...us in the east and southeast get extremely hot and suffer with bad storms. It'll only get worse. Greta may have spent most of her lunch breaks shouting about global warming but she has a point
