  1. Plenty of bumblebees and hoverflies but not many honey bees. Nowhere near the numbers of butterflies sat in the garden for an hour this afternoon and counted 4 (wife is the butterfly person and keeps records of what they are) and this is a garden of plants and flowers that if they do not attract insects they have no place. We also got 3 water features from a pond to a tin bath to half a barrel (fish only in the pond rest for insects).
  2. woke up in Caerphilly this morning and I reckon the winds are stronger than they were in St Davids last weekend
  3. Great reading the mad thread it could be snowed in next week but then it could be bbq times in shorts
  4. so after my caravan possibly blowing away last weekend could be floating away now
  5. Good to know, the wind picked up here last night mother in law who lives opposite had her plastic facia board ripped off her bungalow. Off to Reading (work) so she will have to wait until I get home to sort. Having 3 Cocker Spaniels and a pointer we have to take them out regardless, otherwise they go stir crazy. The only time we struggle is when we have heavy snow. Down the van they usually go out twice three times a day. Its good having the walks on your doorstep and the old runway in St Davids
  6. well just got back home, good to say van survived the winter now for the spring. left at 12 ish blowing a hooley and hammering down with rain, got soaked walking the dogs but they didn't seem to care Back in Caerphilly dry and the trees in the wood behind me hardly moving
  7. Caravan site in St Davids opens tomorrow and I cant wait to have a weekend down my van
  8. http://meteoradar.co.uk/expected-rainfall Click and you can see it happening
  9. not that bad light my son is in swalec and he keeps texting me
  10. still not agreeing BBC and Met BBC still saying light snow but have posted this Amber warning of snow Updated 31 January at 10:23 GMT From 14:00 GMT on Thu 31 January To 21:00 GMT on Thu 31 January Heavy snow likely on Thursday afternoon and evening. - Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers - Some delays and cancellations to rail travel are likely - There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off - Power cuts are likely and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
  11. its pretty grey around you, its the heat off the steel works
  12. I agree but two trusted organisations can be so different at less than 12 hours
  13. Be interesting to see how this pans out, Met have me down for heavy snow, while the BBC has me down for light snow over the same time scale. So how to work out who is right if it snows, what they class as light and heavy
  14. fantastic place spent many an hour there, got a static van in St Davids
