Went to bed and nearly everything had melted other than shaded areas and some left on grass. Woke up to probably more than what we got the previous four days
Didn't expect this at all.

Met office being it's usual self, still saying no snow today yet it hasn't stopped yet.
Also they were pretty bad with the warnings for this area as has snowed worse since it downgraded to yellow from amber yesterday.

More snow on the ground than yesterday morning but far less ice under foot.

This is the explanation of melting snow in below freezing temperatures:
Even when the air temperature is below freezing snow can melt on the ground due to heat from the ground (ground temperature may be higher that air temperature). Also, snow can disappear due to sublimation. In this case, due to low humidity and/or low air pressure, it turns from a solid state directly to a gas without going through the liquid state.Basically snow can be a right idiot when it wants to be?

What did she say?
That there could be some snow and they will know more in the next couple of days basically, deifnitely no mention of snow fall amounts let alone anything concerning.

Video is halfway down the page and only mentions the weekend for the last 30 seconds or so.

God bless Mother Thames. She has really delivered on this one. Intensified the band massively as it crossed the water. Must be official Blizzard conditions right now.
Amazed its not another amber warning here.

I'm about four miles inland from Southend sea front, I understand its impossible to really predict anything but going by the current set up is this a good location for any snow or not as close to the coast?

Said it before but weather apps on your phone are very poor. Not showing much at all for my area still with best I could find being 2cm for Tuesday. Really?
Same for me, Met Office app/web page showing less and less everytime it updates (now just light snow on and off) where as the BBC do seem to have it as more prolonged now...

I think that's in direction rather than temperature?
