  1. I remember that event well! Had quite a bit of thundersnow overnight during a thick covering, which hit the local grid and took the power out, after the clouds had cleared and with a bright moon the scene was amazing with light reflections all over the place, made the night seem quite light and eerie!
  2. Yes I remember it well! Woke up at my mates house with almost a foot of snow cover, he couldn't be bothered to drag his cart around in the snow so I did it for him and he let me keep all the tips lol
  3. I've just tried looking myself, with wayback machine and Google cache, maybe the thread name has been changed and is now unsearchable?
  4. Currently 16c in Pitsea, bedroom is 21c but actually feeling chilly after a room temperature of 26-27c for the last few weeks! Doesn't help having a cold though
  5. Some outrageous feels like temperatures for next week

    Unknown clouds

Would love to know the cloud type if anybody knows??
  7. The random south ockendon strike is legit, just heard it in pitsea, hopefully bodes well for later!
  8. Do you know the reason behind the name change? Edit: You are right, according to Google the name was changed back in 2009
  9. That's a pretty bland statement, what's the reasoning for not wanting to leave, possessions perhaps? For me it's agoraphobia, but that's a discussion for another thread, I would do all I could to prepare before hand, such as sandbagging, bring electrical items, food, valuables upstairs and torches or candles in case the power goes out, then wait for the water to subside, as long as its below 2 feet, any higher and I'd be scared of being trapped and having to be rescued from a window or the roof.
  10. I agree, if they're going to take action they need to sort the lot out at the same time, although I'm not sure what they could replace plastic lids with, plastics are 1000 years to decompose and the equivalent, polystyrene can take much much longer.
  11. Been very lucky so far today with the showers in Benfleet, dodged every single cell, no doubt will crop something later though!
  12. Same here currently in Pitsea, have had a few 30-40mph gusts earlier in the day but very quiet right now.
  13. Naming storms isn't for everyone, and at the same time the Irish met/ and UKMO can get it wrong, but it gives the general public a little more awareness, it's easily shareable on social media with a name to spread awareness. The trouble we may find is when Storm "Grace" hits and causes no issues, Storm "Harry" May hit, and give major impacts, this makes it inconsistent, and if there's enough named storms that don't have much of an effect, when something damaging comes along people aren't going to take notice.
  14. Before the downwelling ends it'll end up in australia, and they will damn well end up stealing our cold
  15. Looks like we'll have to put up with the guess from the west until then, hopefully more than just a dusting tonight though, unlike the last 2 tuesdays! I actually had a brief snow pellet shower yesterday shortly after 3pm, for all of about 30 seconds lol
  16. Like stated from previous days, this event was so marginal it'd affect some areas and not others, try and chill out about it, it's not the end of the world! Regarding Thursday there's still a lot to be sorted within the forecast, I've just seen some people posting that we're looking between 5-10cm, yet some models want to give rain to the SE, and snow to Norfolk, the weather will do as it wants, Just keep the faith!
  17. According to radar the band is back building in intensity, still not heavy or persistent enough here to settle though at 2c, ground is also very damp too
  18. Snowing in Pitsea so should be about to turn to snow in Southend within the next few minutes, not great intensity though, I've not yet got a dusting and the main band has already passed me lol
  19. Anybody know how often the dam lines on meteocentre update? I thought they updated in time with pressure, but the lines are still the same since I posted at 6am?!
