  1. Spot on there. Yes temps have been above average most of the time so far this winter up here but nothing exceptional, seen many many spells of much milder weather over the years! I love the cold and snow but on the other side of the coin I wouldn't mind the higher temps those further south experience, would make my cycling less of a chore! Car needed a good ice scraping yesterday and today is also cold, hopefully not long before we see some of the white stuff! As others have said, GFS hinting at a colder set up for Christmas. Following screenshot from the weather app on my phone tells the story of most of this whole years temps. Huge difference north to south in England alone.
  2. Snow through the night which left a covering before melting, turned colder again at daybreak then a few more snow showers. Mostly sunny now. Freezing wind! Higher ground to the west still white, maybe 200m asl.
  3. Cold day after cold morning. Some rain a.m. then heavy north sea generated showers late afternoon and evening.
  4. Blackberries are weeks behind, presume because of the cold summer?
  5. Autumn continues summers cold, cloudy and temp just scraped to 12° as we get to afternoon. Would love some sunshine and even an average temperature. Dire but at least dry.
  6. Last day of summer says it all, temp struggling to 14!! cloudy and damp....not bad for November, awful for August.
  7. As said several times in the summer thread, very poor summer. Not a washout but an incredible number of cold days, cloudy days and windy days.
  8. Started off ok with a couple hours hazy sun early doors and the temp hit 18 but been 100% cloud since 11am and the temp dropped to 17.5 where it now remains. Radar shows showers starting to form ever closer. Another pleasant early May day but a poor early August one.
  9. A better day yesterday, almost 21 with plenty of sunny spells, only downside was the strong wind! Back to square 1 today, windy, cloudy and cool.
  10. Don't believe what I've just heard. Look North weather and for tomorrow the presenter has just said, "temperatures will be warm again"!!!!! Disinformation at it's best!!
  11. Cold and cloudy gets boring very quickly too, we've had it all spring and summer!! Today sums it up, watching Ride London, 27 n sunny, BBC weather app for here, 16 and raining!! Hoping for an improvement, can't stay so poor for ever.
  12. Another crap day, can't even get to 20c which is average and yet more rain. A chilly 16, late afternoon, height of summer. Surely it's got to improve!!
  13. For once it looks like we've missed out on the rain, lots of sunny spells though windy. Temp got to 18.6, almost average!
  14. You were very lucky then! We were also in Newcastle Wednesday and got wet running to the museum! It got even heavier later at home and the radar showed some intense rain falling over some parts. Yesterday had some pleasant sunshine with light winds but cold again, 15c max in sunshine end of July is cold no matter how you dress it up. And 15 is the 'warmest' it had been for days. My grass has just about stopped growing, never had to cut it so infrequently but thats a good thing!
  15. Torrential downpours here this afternoon and cold again.
  16. Amazing difference over a short distance. We've beat your lowest max several times this July and at the end of the month too!
  17. No figures to back it up just my memory but the number of days in May with max temp in single digits is increasing and now June this year had a number of days max temp in single digits, more than I can ever remember. Given how cold this July has been I'm thinking we may see a single digit July max in the next few summers. Arctic.
  18. Haha, never a truer word! It's been gale force here for 2 day's now, this afternoon mostly cloudy and 16 degrees!! If it was a one off fair enough but most of the summer has been poor and I am just above sea level. BBC app for next 9 day's forecasts 16-18 degrees bar 1 day of 19. For Stanley, 200 mts asl 14-16 degrees for next 9 day's yet I keep reading how the summer has had lots of 'useable' weather! Useable for what? Dress it up how you want but it's been a cold late spring and summer so far and no sign of change.
  19. No heating yet but 13 deg here too, never known a summer with so many cold day's.
  20. Why anyone would wish to be under a big storm is just plain mad to me. Perfectly summed up by tonight's supercell as it tore through Sacriston. Huge hailstones, cars damaged, lights smashed, houses damaged and undoubtedly thousands of pounds of insurance damage to pay out, which we all have to pay for. Not to mention the damage done to wildlife. Be careful what you wish for.
  21. At 3.30pm today, car showed 8.5C!! This was 300m asl but even so, end of June?!! That is a slightly mild January day!! Felt absolutely freezing today in that wind.
  22. Nothing like average here, it's cold. Big improvement on the last few days though, temp has hit 15C!!!!!!! Still cloudy and windy though!
  23. I like my cycling and the almost constant cold and wind this year doesn't make you want to head on out!
  24. After a few pleasant days last week it's back to the usual rubbish. Temp has struggled to 13C, is it really second half of June, cloudy and windy. Story of the spring and summer so far bar a few day's here and there. I think you'd have to go up to the arctic to find weather so cold in May and June at sea level. Many day's of either single figures or 13C or less as max's!! Need it to warm up!!
  25. Same here though I don't have figures. I dare bet it's even colder here with regular winds off the cold sea. One warm week in April and the rest cold-average. I'm sure I recall one of the BBC forecasters in April saying something about a record warm April or in the top 10 warmest April's as the month drew to a close. Where do they take their readings as that couldn't be further from the truth for the North?
