Latest sea level in Key West is 4.00ft. The previous record was 3.13ft in 2005 and its still 4 hours until the next high tide.Looking at the tide gauge on the quay, I doubt it will last that long as its just a wooden hut. https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stationhome.html?id=8724580 Bit scary but still hardly a 6ft surge as NHC was warning or the 18ft surge that occurred across the quays in the 1930s. Typically Key West experiences a tidal range between low and high tide of a mere 1ft, hence the surrounding roads and infrastructure are located just above it. By comparison the tidal range in the UK - especially along the Severn estuary is up to 50ft. IF these storms (i.e. Jose) ever ventured this way to the UK waters, then THAT would be a storm surge!
