  1. I live in western Ireland and we have had a cold winter since mid November with a couple of short milder interludes. Weve had the kitchen sink here, snow, sleet, hail, thunder snow, thunder hail, thunder and lightening, gales, storm force winds, many frosty and icy mornings, evenings, and some ice days. Flooding was also an issue. Temperatures around 0 to 4 degrees by day and -2 to 1 by night in average. Best mild spell was the run up ri xmas which was great for xmas shoppers. Was a very entertaining winter, quite cold was the default weather, with very cold spells and 2 mild spells.
  2. according to NASA, October 2018 to August 2019 there will be no sunspots, thats a long run and only getting started...did you know 2009 had 260 sun spotless days, no wonder we had such a cold winter...

  8. @Gray-Wolf was it an atmospheric river we received in December 2015? If memory serves me well, didnt we get 3 days of non stop rain dragged up from a moist jet stream... Winter of 2013/14 was incredible for storms being picked up on a powerful jet stream from new foundland, i remember the flooding being bad that winter...

  22. That's impressive and hence why there was much more cold winter weather around in those decades. It's quite obvious that the ice has retreated in our era due to the warming of our planet, hence why its more difficult to pull in colder weather to our area and even when we do the elements are greatly modified...
