Basically you take a series of photos of the scene at different exposure levels and then use software like Paintshop pro etc. to blend the different images together into one image.
Here's a beginners tutorial video
-
Have a try at HDR / tone mapping. Done correctly the results can be spectacular but if over done the results can be a bit nauseating.

Here they are for Cleethorpes:
Thanks Tony.
Turns out I've had 38.7mm less than the average for November, I'm quite surprised how much less than average the rain totals for November were.
-
Only 18.5mm rainfall here in Grimsby for November, I'm guessing that's a lot lower than the average. Where can I find out the average rainfall for my area?
-
I've just found this on the BBC website, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15873206 The video mentions about the fuel the satellites use and it doesn't sound like nice stuff.
-
Only 12mm here so far this month, the wettest day was 6mm on the 4th.
-
I would gladly send you the rainfall statistics in exchange for a rain gauge. I'll pm you with my details.
Thanks, James.

It's not an official animation, I'm curious to see how the surface temp changes throughout this coming winter so I knocked up the animation from the daily images to get a better idea of how the North Sea is cooling. I'll be adding more frames to it so eventually I'll have the entire winter's changes animated.where did you obtain the animation - I can't find it?
-
I don't think the temps have jumped, looks to me like the scale just changes for some reason...
Oh yeah, so it does somehow I'd missed that
I must be going blind or daft, possibly both

Hi
I've been keeping my eye on the North Sea surface temperatures for the last week now on the BOSS4GMES site(http://project.ncof.co.uk/B4G/indicator.php?indicator=sst ) and up until the 6th of December there appeared to be cooling of the North Sea then the temperatures have shot up.
What could be causing the temperatures to rise so rapidly?

Get in quick. The walkers site so far is working nicely. The wife & I got our picks sorted within a couple of minutes.
Good luck everybody
-
managed to get on but same problem .... not even got to the stage where I can pick a time slot .... Although don't know why were all bothered, Models show a dry day for Monday .. A few light showers on the South coast which will probably be gone by tomorrow
The far North of Scotland looks good for the morning time slot, if the models are to be believed.
-
I wonder if walkers planned this so that the site would crash to avoid paying out any more tenners.
Try reloading the page every 15 seconds until it loads, it worked for me & the wife.
-
15 minutes later and it's still saying "making this square yours..." I hope it's gonna go through.
-
I've just managed to pick a square but it's taking forever to actually allocate it to me. The map is starting to grey around my pick pretty quickly already.

Rumoured to have done £3.5M of improvements to Hull city centre !!!
Is Hull destroyed then?
-
Felt it here in Grimsby, it shook one of my pictures off the wall. It's just been on BBC News 24 the epicentre was 30 miles south of Hull at 4.7 magnitude.
