  1. I fell into the same trap as your co workers. I wasn’t expecting a 2022 redux, but at the time I was confident we would be getting a decent sunny summer. It really backfired on me lol. The one good thing was the good late May and June weather coincided with the longer daylight hours. Lots of good twilight evenings after long hot sunny days. Just a shame it ran out of steam in July, but that’s just me.
  2. Fair enough. It’s all about our own experiences. I did get to enjoy June, but I’m some ways didn’t fully appreciate it as it happened. It seemed to go too quick lol.
  3. Lol I know. But hey ho. I hope some folk are enjoying it. I did get a decent thunderstorm this morning and a hot sunny day yesterday, so can’t really complain.
  4. Yeah, the sunshine down here in the med is always better than Blighty sunshine. But, I’ll take it at any rate
  5. I don’t think families who were limited to taking their main summer holiday during mid July until late August would have benefited from the sunny warm June. If they can afford to venture abroad fair enough, but if they were restricted to a U.K. break during high summer, if feel it’s been a raw deal for the kids.
  6. Yeah, but the problem is and was that June became easily forgotten by the time we reached early August, and experienced weeks of poor grey cloudy weather. June 2009 and 2010 were just as good in London, but both of those summers overall went downhill and were poor. No, I’m sorry I will have to disagree there. I would have taken a poor June, even following the hilly spring we had and so so May, if July and August were warm and sunny.
  7. Yeah, I think that’s what we had this morning about 8-10am. Thunder and lightning out at sea was quite impressive to witness.
  8. It was better than 2012, and 2007. But, 2023 has been worse than any other summer since the post 2014 period.
  9. Certainly looks nice. Think we’ve got what the western Med had a day or two ago. We have the unsettled weather here today, after the storms this morning. The rain has died off, so we went for a walk along the shoreline.
  10. We didn’t have very good summer between early July until the middle part of August. Yes, it did improve as August went on, but July was appalling for its lack of sunshine and long sunny warm days. For people who hate the heat, I think Summer 23 has been the ideal season for people who hate hot sunny weather. The current weather this week looks to be the only good sustained period of warm sunny days since June for people who enjoy summery weather.
  11. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it clears up soon. The bottom line is, it’s a change of scene. But, sometimes it’s Sod’s Law when you want some much needed sunshine, when your home country fails to deliver and you search for it elsewhere.
  12. We just had a thunderstorm move through where I am in Greece this morning. Was baking yesterday at 30-31c, but today it’s looking like 24-25c max with cloudy conditions. Last night was very hot at 25c. Time for massage and spa I think today. Enjoy the lovely 29-30c heat back in Blighty. I think you should be ok. September often does have a couple of unsettled days with storms in the med areas. I usually go in September, and we’ve never had a full week of sunny days. But, we always avoid July and August as it’s usually too hot, even for a heat lover like myself lol.
  13. I hate the term fam. Nobody can call me fam, unless you are my partner or a blood relative. It’s so commonly used by younger folk in certain communities, and probably by many who would be too eager to stab(pardon the pun) you in the back, if stuff goes south. So, if someone addresses me as ‘fam’, I’ll be keeping a close eye on him/her. I certainly won’t trust them lol.
  14. Gassed and peng are used by people born after 1990. I don’t know why people use it, but I just roll my eyes when someone says ‘I was so gassed’. Another term I can’t stand is when they say ‘it’s so peak man’ lol.
  15. That’s just rotten bad luck. It probably feels like a cloud has followed you round every time you return to the U.K. Lol I had a similar experience with wanting snow one winter when going to see my partners family in Latvia. It snowed for several weeks prior to our visit, then turned mild for our arrival during Christmas, and remained green for the whole Christmas into new year period. Although chilly, it was snowless. We flew back to London around the 3rd of January, and a week later the snow was falling yet again, while I was back in rainy mild London
  16. 78-79 and 80 were stinkers though. And 81 wasn’t great either, apart from the August being warmish and sunny. There did seem to be a poor run of summers after 1976 until 1983. Similar to the 2007-12 period, following the hot summer of 2006, then having to wait until 2013 before we had a reasonable summer again.
  17. Revolting. June was lovely, but it went downhill after that and the nice sunny warm days of mid to late August weren’t enough to save it. A summer for the bin. One good thing was the storms. Had a decent on over the August bank holiday weekend, but other than the hot sunny weather in June, it was pretty meh.
  18. 2015 was only strange in December. I remember November and the early part of 2016 being cold. Anyway, currently in Greece with a daytime high of 29-30, and overnight lows of 23-25c. Heaven
  19. I have to repeat myself, for those who appear to be deaf to any reason. Or in this case it would be blind. Not as boring as hearing how good June was. I can’t remember how many times we need to be reminded about it lol. Thanks, I will
  20. Glad someone speaks from the same hymn sheet. Summer was crap for people who enjoy proper summer weather and long clear sunny spells. I just elaborated a bit more, because we both know this summer was wonderful for those who hate sunshine and some nice summer warmth.
  21. Next week looks wonderful. It’s a shame I won’t be here to see it.
  22. Will you stop banging on about June! Lol it was the best June for years. We get it! But it wasn’t a good summer. Lol no more stats please. I’ll be having nightmares. How it feels counts a lot more than ‘stats’.
  23. 1996 had a good June with a decent severe thunderstorm. This came after the cold spring. July was so so, and I remember August being mixed.
