  1. ChannelThunder I can remember on this day in 1990, temps were around 80f in the South East. I was out sunbathing with my mates
  2. Eagle Eye If it helps at all: I use a 28mm lens, ISO400, f8-f11, 10s exposures if it's a busy storm. Then I stack the exposures during post-processing.
  3. When the straight line wind hits...time to take cover. Came in very strong at Seaford last night and put an end to any photography, we just made it to the car before the lashing rain hit. My friend couldn't drive for the first few minutes and cars were pulling over.
  4. Sad isn't it? Everybody walks around with a camera in their pocket these days (well, maybe not me, I don't own a "smart" phone), but the moment you pull out a proper camera, everybody stares (mostly with suspicion).
  5. Two strikes at Selsey just showed up on Blitzortung, then vanished again. (they might be back, that often happens.)
  6. Still, very pretty on Blitzortung...is that a left/right split about to happen?
  7. To clear up any confusion, I offer my highly...err...professional forecast for today:
  8. These just exploded in the last 20 mins, heading NNE:
  9. June 1994 was when I took my first ever lightning pic. This was looking East from Wormley, Herts: (When I can find the neg I'll be able to restore this)
  10. Rain hitting now. It's been a long time since I saw the sky this dark during the day. Cloud heights are 10K plus.
  11. Sunlight streaming through the windows half an hour ago, now it looks like 10pm out there.
  12. ESTOFEX have issued a Level 1 for later today also: European Storm Forecast Experiment - ESTOFEX WWW.ESTOFEX.ORG
  13. Apologies if already posted. Estofex have issued a level 1 for Sunday afternoon / evening: European Storm Forecast Experiment - ESTOFEX WWW.ESTOFEX.ORG
  14. Went down to Pevensey Bay and was precisely placed. Frequent IC lightning and torrential rain. Most of the lightning was hidden but still made for some nice pics as the storm rolled in. Lovely structure.
  15. Times like this I'm glad I keep a lot of records on file :) Got lightning and sat image here.
  16. Takes me back to the late 80's - early '90s when we'd all sit out in a field at night, drinking cheap cider and watching some spectacular storms. This was in Herts, I seem to remember quite a few storms coming in from the NE around that period of time.
  17. cells forming in a line and heading NW, I never pay attention to models this close in, just watch satellite and sferics.
  18. Well, I got my little storm trundling over the Channel after all :) First noticed it just on the French coast and went out to meet it at Pevensey Bay. Nothing too spectacular, but first one this year.
  19. Some fresh mushies punching through in Northern France, Holding out for the smallest chance of a light show in the Channel later.
  20. Some fairly close strikes this morning here in Hailsham. Thunder gave me a start as it's the time of year when I generally stop checking the radar for storms.
