  1. There's a shower developing immediately downwind of me! Must be the beans I had for lunch.
  2. The temp's not dropping off now like it did yesterday due to the storm that mised us. Still sweltering.
  3. They're all MAN bound according to flight radar 24. Still frustratingly close yet so far here. Now hearing thunder more to the south.
  4. From nothing 5 mins ago, the Manchester storm is now giving me constant thunder. I just need it to grow a bit! Must be very wet at Parklife.
  5. They were on the SWerly path last night, heading straight towards the storm then making a sharp turn! This morning they were back to NEerly, which makes a bit of a racket here as those going west turn left and fly over South Manchester. Now switched round again.
  6. We seem to have had the lightest possible sprinkling overnight, there is about 50ml of water in the bucket that catches what comes off my greenhouse roof. Grass is no wetter than a light dew would leave it.
  7. It does look like those under the storm are going to have to put up with it for a good while. All the movement in the radar is along the line of precipitation, very little NE-ward progression. So the drought continues here.
  8. Is this Altocumulus castellanus then? South of Pennington Flash.
  9. Good agreement across the model ensembles that the warmth will persist well into next week. Rainfall chances also look low after Monday, so if you miss the weekend showers, that could be it for a while. GFS: GEM: ECMWF: I'm torn about the storm chances. As a gardener I'd love a great deluge, T&L a bonus, but tomorrow our sailing club are running a dawn to dusk team relay sail around Pennington Flash, for which rain is unwelcome and lightning most dangerous! My shift is from 9-10am, so I should miss any nasty conditions.
  10. It will also be streamed live on BT Sport's Youtube channel, it's a condition of their deal apparently. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4i_9WvfPRTuRWEaWyfKuFw Edit: the stream wll be here:
  11. An end to the dry spell has been showing around the 11th for a few runs now. Growers will welcome it I'm sure. I was in West Kirby yesterday and there's a lot of yellow grass there, worse than in Manchester.
  12. No rain since the 19th here, the ensemble looks good for another 10 dry days to come. Hopefully some rain after that. My garden is in the local open gardens event on the 25th, it would be nice if it wasn't all frazzled!
  13. Bang on the edge of the thunderstorm warning area here. I think the other side of the road from me is in the area! Just increasingly heavy showers for now.
  14. Thunder heard here. Looks like it's developing between me and the city centre and heading away to the NE.
  15. Lashing down half an hour ago, but it's sunny again now. Heaviest rain I've seen in quite a while.
  16. I thought that. Less than 5mm in total here, and looking at the 24 hour radar sequence, nowhere looks like it got a real soaking. Maybe it's an abundance of caution due to the strike at the Met yesterday.
  17. Up at Ullwater today for a bit of snowboarding. The snow was a bit thin in places, but the views were fabulous. Drove back in horrendous sleet on the M61 and M60.
  18. A scarring of graupel overnight here, and the first beautiful sunny morning I can remember for a long time. At my low altitude I'm sceptical of snow chances later in the week, but prepared to be pleasantly surprised. Snow to rain very much the likely outcome here.
  19. And the very fortunate had a great pilot! https://twitter.com/APTGroves/status/1630338032732651520?t=ovch7AgchrANerwc1oqxBQ&s=19
  20. Another 0.3mm overnight takes my closest station Personal Weather Station Dashboard | Weather Underground WWW.WUNDERGROUND.COM Weather Underground provides local & long-range weather forecasts, weather reports, maps & tropical weather conditions for locations worldwide. to 12.2mm for the whole of Feb. The driest month in that dataset.
  21. I think the blossom on my winter-flowering cherry is the closest to snow we'll see here until next winter.
  22. Ooh, it's raining. No, it's stopped. Hopefully get some more in the next few days,
