  1. Snow up the Cat & Fiddle at least. Looks wet judging by how it's sticking to the camera.
  2. Of course, as it's just rain today the shield is right out of action, tipping down here. At least my new garden pond is getting filled up.
  3. Only 75mm here so far in January. Last June was 87mm, I wonder if tomorrow evening's rail will take us over that? Otherwise, it's been the least wet month since May (I can't bring myself to say dryest!! ).
  4. It didn't seem too bad when I went out on my bike earlier, but it has picked up again and is now as bad as it was most of last evening.
  5. Not really going here yet. I've been out in the garden and there's been the odd big gust, maybe 20kts, but mostly it's much lighter. Certainly not the 20 gusting 37 the met office shows.
  6. Well, the geese were walking on the Flash, so it was classroom training only.
  7. But if you pile it all up, some will be left days later. From 2010: the ManU carpark had a pile of snow 10 weeks later.
  8. A wind warning for Sunday has already been issued. UK weather warnings - Met Office WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK
  9. My lad is supposed to be doing a day of training in his Laser dinghy at Pennington Flash on the 20th. Looks like they could be ice-yachting instead.
  10. Disruptive snow possible next week WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Potentially impactful snow is possible for some next week, as an arctic airmass exerts its influence on the UK’s weather.
  11. Is rather be to far north and get less snow than be too far south and get cold rain!
  12. Good job the outlook is drier, this trend would have hit record levels if we got another couple of days like these.
  13. Rain every day here for the last 14 days. It's that a meteorological anti-drought? Still, it was ok this morning and I got some tidying-up jobs some in the garden. Indoors only though after lunch: packing up all the books in the living room to move them upstairs (with the bookcases) into the office. A real "out with the old, in with the new" job for NYE. Happy New Year everyone!
  14. Nothing particularly cold in the ensembles atm. Signs of a pressure rise though, which should dry things a bit. More seasonal 2m temps as a result, but hardly freezing.
  15. Loganair turboprop has just made it, a landing ground speed of just 90kts. Its speed varied between 100 and 280 as it circled at 12k feet. Meanwhile, the A380 is on its 7th lap!
  16. Look at the variation in ground speed as it circled. That must put the wind at that altitude over 100kts. I can't see anything actually lining up on the approach now. Looks like they're all diverting to Birmingham.
  17. As I'm heading for the middle of the green bit for Xmas, it should be nailed for up here now! This has happened before, 2010 I think.
  18. I am beyond thrilled that Randall has outed himself as a weather watcher!
  19. The best I've seen is on FB https://www.facebook.com/100063625415916/posts/841914544606052/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v
  20. Just back from a walk at Pott Shrigley, where the north facing slopes might as well have been snowed on. Drove through light mixed precipitation on the way back, some sleet, some more flakey stuff. Snizzle at home.
