  1. We're at 135mm of rain so far for April at the nearest sepa station and 631mm for the year so far! Attempted to do some gardening between the downpours today and nearly lost my welly in the bog making some flower beds... Similar to others with some of the downpours containing hail with a quick cool down. Some more heavy showers tomorrow and Monday before a drier day again.
  2. It must be spring: 4c in northern Scotland after recent snow and 18c in the south east of England. Some pretty heavy downpours moving through here too this afternoon. I didn't bother staying up to watch the snow last night but I think we ended up with a decent cover given it was still melting in the rain first thing this morning.
  3. Rain, snow and wind warnings out now.... UK weather warnings - Met Office WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, wind, snow, ice, fog, thunderstorm, lightning and extreme heat.
  4. Yep beautiful start to the day here too, nice to see the sun for once. Overnight and into Saturday looks like an absolute deluge though, the met office text forecast even mentions the "S" word for tonight and into the morning over the hills so enjoy the sun while it's here e.g.
  5. mardatha Lots more to come from a quick look at the models unfortunately, it's looking like a really wet week and into the weekend with lots of generally light rain interrupted by bands of heavy/torrential rain. I'm glad I managed to get the grass cut for the first time yesterday as I'm not sure when the next chance will be! Roll on my summer hols!
  6. Some surprise snow.... Not sure if it was much worse during the night although assume it must've been given the amount of slush. Light/moderate snow falling now and much whiter than the photo.
  7. Finally some interesting weather. A very heavy shower moving through with hail sleet and now some flakes of snow! Road out the front is now a slushy white.
  8. Clear blue skies and strong spring winter sunshine which feels pleasant. Yesterday was similar but with a bit more cloud. it's still very muddy underfoot. It would be nice if we could get this every day for at least a few weeks As @Northernlights mentioned winter isn't finished yet, and there is still the risk of some snow for the next couple of months... This winter has been a reminder to stay grounded when it comes to cold/snow forecasts in this country. The charts looked very cold from early December with many comments of 1947/63 in the model thread which I thankfully ignored after 20 years of experience on here (although the north did well and we managed some snow here so I can't complain too much) If we hadn't got that 3 or 4 inch fall early December I would be disappointed though particularly with the bust early Jan where the front went south.
  9. Quinach apparently returning to normal conditions here yet it's been soggy for months I guess they must have testing lower down in the soil or estimated it from the rainfall stats. Doesn't feel like it's been dry here though! I'm other news, pea soup with drizzle, mist and fog for the last few days. We managed a few glimpses of sunshine at lunchtime today. It feels very much like spring now.
  10. Heavy hail and a bit of snow again @Ruzzi and we're on the heaviest of the next shower. No lightning this time because I stood at the window recording it...
  11. Ruzzi yep was about to say the same, decent looking cell near Largs at the moment.
  12. We've got thundersnow... Wtf Saw the radar, opened the blind just in case... Started as hail then bam, lightning with a loud rumble with heavy snow. Probably more of a dusting than we got from the front last week...
  13. Scuba steve can't imagine you'll have too many problems tomorrow to be honest. No huge amounts and the front is pretty patchy. Ice and accidents more likely on the A71 so I would go M74 to M77 unless you're likely to hit Glasgow at rush hour.
  14. Kayemill yep starting to lie a bit wider here now that it's got dark. Roads and pavements starting to turn white.
