  1. Metoffice oopsie again... Heavy snow falling. Car temp showing 0c, whilst 2 miles down the road it's 3c with rain. Motorway was starting to come to a standstill going into Glasgow.
  2. Ah yeah, to be fair the UKV shows the precip in those areas mostly. But like with the storm the other day the UKV does show some heavier stuff running across Glasgow to Inverclyde and down into Ayrshire a bit. We weren't in the rain warning the other day when this showed and still needed a boat
  3. Met office going with sleet or snow possible to lower levels at first as it moves on. (Strathclyde text forecast) Precip doesn't look that strong or persistent on the UKV though so I'm not going to expect much and will hope for the best. No warnings out though which is a great sign
  4. It's at a standstill at drumochter at least- loads of videos on Facebook. Blizzard conditions, snow ploughs trying their best to get through by the looks of it but so much traffic, heavy drifting snow and very low visibility they will be struggling.
  5. A little windy with heavy sleet, looks like it's pretty close to being snow with the amount of ice running down the window. Lots of now on some of the higher roads looking at the cams. M74 at beattock currently covered which is well south of the warning area although I guess will be expected to turn to rain soon.
  6. Cold, icey underfoot where snow has been cleared and it was foggy until just a short while ago. Not much snow has melted but I'm guessing that's about to change as the sleety mess makes its way in.
  7. The meto text forecast mentions them getting into the Glasgow area later
  8. Yeah good fun if you or the family don't need to go anywhere otherwise it's a bit of a pain. Cracking photos. Yeah currently watching videos of scoobys towing SUVs (presumably FWD) in the snow in the lake district Didn't manage to get out in the snow much today due to other things on but not much has melted. I measured 8-10cm this morning, could be even better if we get some "breakdown" snow on top later in the week although typically I'm meant to be driving down south and back.. Currently icey (no meto warning!) with freezing fog.
  9. Some of the snowfall totals in the lake district are obscene but not surprising given the radar, 12-18inches looking at some photos. Refuge centers being set up for trapped motorists too.
  10. Hope you're still awake @Kirkcaldy Weather as you look to be about to get a blizzard, reds on the radar as it passes the Forth!
  11. Couple of early photos, more when it's light. Still snowing lightly and the best snow of the last few years
  12. Ehh we've had a good few inches of snow, missed the heaviest falling because I needed sleep. Unexpected but amazing
  13. Yep, hoping that heaviest bit you have now makes it over here. If you loop the radar a streamer is setting up angled towards us from about the Campbeltown area so it could go on for a while...
  14. Meto warning of 1-3cm of snow above 200m is a little off... Looks like more than that already settled down to sea level in places and the radar is looking good! Edit: moderate snow here now with everything white, not bad for the first day of winter!
  15. Haha to be fair it started here and trended south... Unless it's the wrap around showers from the east. Also the radar is looking decent out west...
  16. Think I might just buy one of these ABOUT US - Snowgun Europe SNOWGUN.EU
  17. Yello weather warning just issued for the west /south West tonight. Marginal with snow mostly above 200m if the showers even make it this far inland
  18. There's a load more showers currently developing inland today which will drift west /south West, UKV shows the chance of 1 or 2 reaching us later. (currently on radar from about Pitlochry over towards Loch lomond). Somewhere over Argyll with a bit of elevation must be getting a dumping as some of the showers are heavy and barely moving. Meanwhile later tonight and into the morning the wind moves more to the north West but still might be too northerly to bring us anything inland.
  19. Not quite as cold here as it has been but it's just below freezing. A lot of moisture around so I think freezing fog will be likely to form soon. I'm with @JamesM with the weather station question. I would like to get a new one but not a £500+ Davis as I'll not look after it properly and the rest are hard to tell between!
