  1. Frustrating isn't it, mostly heavy sleet here although it's nearly snow again. While just a few miles away and slightly higher up the M77 is down to one lane with heavy snow! The radar is also broken over Western Scotland so there is more precip around than it looks!
  2. Somebody's messing with me, it's dark, snowing heavily and everything is turning white but the street lights aren't working!! The worst week for it
  3. After a day of wet snow it's finally starting to settle here on this next band of precip From the traffic cam it looks as if the higher areas of town at about 200m have a good covering already.
  4. I wouldn't worry, they've already got this evenings forecast wrong saying that snow will start to fall on the hills... when the hills are already white and the snow line is coming down towards 100m!
  5. Sorry...that was the Strathclyde forecast, the Fife forecast still mentions rain/sleet possible at the coast....
  6. Good upgrade on the meto text forecast, no mention of rain/sleet from Thursday! Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Snow or snow showers will continue to feed in across the region over the coming days with significant snowfall over higher ground, and to all levels by the weekend
  7. Same here now and the temp is continuing to fall - it looks as if it could settle if it becomes a bit heavier as it is sticking to surfaces for a bit before melting.
  8. Heavier precip beginning to move in here, it's pretty much sleet so far - bursts of snow and then bursts of rain.
  9. Latest meto warning update extends the snow warning across nearly all of Scotland Friday through to Sunday, highest impact but low probability at the moment so expect amber warnings to be issued later in the week if everything stays the same... "An area of heavy rain and snow over Scotland will slowly move south over the weekend, bringing further snow accumulations, firstly over high ground in the north, but increasingly to low levels through Saturday and into Sunday. A further 20 to 30 cm may fall above 200 m, with 5 to 10, perhaps locally 20 cm falling even to low levels as we move into the weekend. Strong winds could lead to significant drifting of snow and temporary blizzard conditions." Also light snow here now which seems to slowly be getting heavier...
  10. Same here... Not sure if its rain, sleet or wet snow as its only light, but its not white outside!
  11. The lightest of snow is now falling here from the front!
  12. Yeah, we'll be lucky if we scrape a dusting here going by those charts. Plenty more chances over the next week if we don't get anything though.
  13. Amber warning just issued for Northern England, hope one follows for Scotland...or do I
  14. Meto are updating the warnings. I was expecting them to mention a high ground event tomorrow given the text forecast update this morning emphasised a mostly high ground event (and mainly high ground for rest of the week) but they've kept it for snow at low levels. On the impact matrix, they have put it down as a higher impact, but it's in the "unlikely" box....who knows UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  15. The snow must have got heavier here as there is the remnants of a covering being washed away by the rain. Looks as if it turned to snow under the heaviest precip.
  16. Sleet and wet snow falling here. Not sure if it will come to anything, the higher parts of the M77 are getting a good dump by the looks of the traffic cams but not many other places yet.
  17. Temp down to 1.9c with the front only 30-40miles away... Its been drizzle most of the day so it would be very strange if this ended up being snow! Although explainable I guess since we have a cold easterly surface flow as the front moves in.
  18. Yeah they've split the warning in two as North of the central belt are likely to get more prolonged snowfall from both fronts, whereas the south may get snow from the first band but more likely rain later on Thursday into Friday. As you say, it'll be down to nowcasting tomorrow - I've seen these type of events go both ways in terms of remaining as snow or being all rain !
  19. NMM is going for some more widespread snow tomorrow morning too... I'm still expecting rain or sleet here, maybe with some snow on the front edge but I'll hopefully be sleeping when that falls! Latest meto forecast firmly planted on the fence... "Cloud thickening and lowering to bring rain and snow to Ayrshire late evening, which extends into the Central Belt overnight. Heavier outbreaks and strengthening winds reaching far southwest towards dawn. Minimum temperature -2 °C."
  20. It is starting to turn to snow here but still mostly sleet, so there is hope for those further east...
  21. Sorry to say but its snowing here again! Only kidding, its just rain or sleet here too
  22. Still working here... although the intensity of the sleet just increased on the latest frame at 19:00 so it probably is broken
  23. The front for tonight looks pretty heavy on radar north of N.Ireland currently (if its the same one). Meto text forecast doesn't make that much of it... "Chance of some wintry showers, perhaps giving a slight covering of snow in places. Otherwise dry with clear periods, especially across northern Argyll. Widespread frost and a risk of icy patches. Minimum temperature -2 °C" Good news
  24. Yeah, a few models hinted yesterday the showers would move in from more of a westerly direction through the day so we need that to happen. Haven't checked the models this morning though!
