  1. Red warning extended westward, just a few miles away from here now in Perthshire. Hotel has the sandbags out!
  2. Yep sadly as I posted on Sunday it had red warning wretten all over it. Hope everyone stays safe or avoids travelling if they can. We're staying in the amber area and due to travel on Friday, wil just need to see what the roads are like as we don't have much choice. Yesterday was lovely, early frost and Freezing fog which then descended into the glens. Drove up to Pitlochry later in the day and sections of the fields were still under water. We witnessed some farmers out harvesting the last of what they could and one tractor was well and truly stuck in deep mud.
  3. Yes, also unusual they don't mention any idea of rainfall amounts other than extremely heavy, I've never seen a rain warning without an indication of rain amounts before. I saw an ECM chart posted which suggested more than 250mm in places, red warning material if it comes off given recent weather (matrix has it at the highest impact) . I'll also be up in Perthshire later in the week and then travelling back south on Friday so I'm watching closely now...
  4. That's still some pretty intense rain crossing flood affected areas which aren't under the warning at the moment...
  5. Yep and getting heavier. I know we're used to rain but this is getting pretty bad now!
  6. I'm going to say it before @Mair Snaw.... If only it was all snow OK a bit early but it won't be long before sleet season arrives
  7. Great post KW. I've been keeping an eye on it all week too. Friday originally looked the worst but it has changed over the last few days to Saturday. It was still very wet here Wed and Thursday so all of that rain following a week of wet weather isn't good for flood prone areas. UKV was in particular showing some intense bursts along with the heavy and persistent rain. The meto regional forecast mentions that with a significant risk of flooding. I suspect the meto might get the orange crayon out in their next update for the west at least?
  8. Belter of squall line moving across the central belt now. Gutters were overflowing and I'd imagine some roads will be flooded from that.
  9. I thought I heard thunder, sky looks very stormy to the west/north west but I'm stuck on a work call so I can't go to the top of the hill for a better view unfortunately! Actually a big flash of lightning and deep rumble!
  10. Yep, chilly and wet here too. Last week we had the bedroom windows open all night for 4 nights in attempt to cool the house down, this week it feels like the heating is about to come on!
  11. Ooo thunder overhead now and the warning lasts until 6am. I'll stop spamming
  12. Loads of dodgey looking lowerings around... Looks to be a few needle funnels too? Lightning strikes and a few rumbles not far from here. Heavy rain now on.
  13. Just had some reports of funnel clouds in East Ayrshire from that band of cells so keep en eye out
  14. Cells starting to fire round here now, pretty dark skies to the south and south east with some good towers going up in all directions. No lightning shown yet but it is intensifying. Very humid
  15. Not exactly forecast but torrential rain falling here now, tomorrow is looking hot but unsettled so I guess that's the heatwave coming to an end. (fingers crossed for storms tomorrow, noted the meto text saying "unlucky" for those getting the worst!) This rain has caught a lot of people off gaurd this evening who are rushing to get the washing in
  16. Brilliant start to Autumn so far with plenty of sunshine and temps into the mid twenties. Tomorrow looks hot again, maybe slightly warmer than today here with the chance we get one of those showers or storms heading north tomorrow. Tomorrow feels like one of those days where "the weather man got it wrong" and everyone heads out to school and work without a jacket only to be soaked mid afternoon... We'll see I guess, should be pretty isolated..
  17. Met office text forecast of mostly dry with a few light showers this evening... Rain currently bouncing down and has been for about an hour (to be fair UKV didn't show this much rain)
  18. Haha that normally happens with storm warnings for me too. Its currently absolutely tipping it down with rain and hail here and we're not in a warning area, at least it's a bit more interesting than light showers
  19. Torrential rain here for about the last 30mins. Just looked at the M77 camera and there is a car facing the wrong way - woops!
  20. Yep, got back on Thursday evening thanks. The last week was great for storms, got loads of photos and video which I'll dig out and post at some stage. Hope you had a good holiday! Looks like it has rained most days since I left and the schools broke up for summer, the grass was about a foot high when I got home which was great fun cutting...
  21. We were doing the same nice little storm today, made it cooler for about half an hour.
  22. Thanks @Kayemill, the flight was pretty smooth despite storms around at takeoff and landing (the clouds from the plane tail cam were pretty cool) . We also got through MCO in record time for us and we've been a lot. Some rain when we landed but not much. We'll be trying to stay away from the alligators
  23. Ah wondered how you were getting on. I've been keeping an eye on the radar and it's been stormy at some less common times like those early morning ones! Glad it's calming down a bit, although would still like a few storms. Looks stormy over the weekend still, so might have a bumpy landing on Sunday... And bumpy take off from Manchester actually. Enjoy @Kayemill hope the storms go back to the usual quick afternoon downpour.
  24. Yep, can see the downpour from here but we're dry too. A 5min downpour today at 3 and one yesterday at the same time which was a bit more extreme. Just about as tropical at gets here!
