  1. Frequent heavy showers blown in from the north west. If it was a month or so later, I’d be seeing a good snow event.
  2. I lived in Rochester, Kent at the time. At one point it snowed continuously for 5 days. The snow was about a foot or so deep and I was walking to work in temperatures of -14'c. Loved it.
  3. This area along with much of the North Midlands, Yorkshire and Lancashire have seen well above average rainfall for each of the past 6 months. It's been relentless. I remember the first half of November 2010 being very mild.
  4. There is now a warning for Thursday covering much of England and Wales away from the south west. Heavy rain, but also mentions snow for some western areas, particularly high ground of Wales.
  5. Suspect Thursday's warning may well be extended to here. Model disagreement on the track of the area of rain though.
  6. Weather warnings for rain. Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Monday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon. East Midlands Thursday.
  7. Frequent showers following overnight rain. A lot more rain to come this week.
  8. I know it’s been wet when I look at the GFS projection of 50mm+ over the next 10 days and think ‘Hmm. Not too bad’.
  9. Weather is doing nothing here. Grey sky, no wind, no precipitation. Meanwhile, areas further west have snow.
  10. Radar showing precipitation overhead. Nothing falling from the sky.
  11. App has changed to heavy snow, but these automated forecasts are very inaccurate.
  12. Wonder if we will see something wintry from this system today. Parts of the Peak District most likely will.
  13. Most of the rain looks to be further west as the front stalls across the West/Central Midlands and then slides away south east. In fact, the rain may well not reach as far north east as Yorkshire. Here are the projected rainfall accumulations up to the end of Saturday.
  14. Yet another complete washout for the Midlands on Saturday according to the Euro4 model. Rain and hill snow clearing Wales and South West England by early afternoon but affecting the Midlands for much of the day as the front stalls and pivots with the rain sliding south eastward. Maybe some snow for the hills of the Midlands.
  15. Yet another complete washout for the Midlands on Saturday according to the Euro4 model. Rain and hill snow clearing Wales and South West England by early afternoon but affecting the Midlands for much of the day as the front stalls and pivots with the rain sliding south eastward.
  16. North westerlies can be very snowy here in winter. I'd bank that Seems to tie in with the musings from the likes of Chino on here.
  17. BBC mentioning snow for hills of the Midlands on Saturday. Stoke probably isn’t quite high up enough, unless precipitation is heavy enough.
  18. I’ve been stuck under the southern edge of this rain band all day. Now it’s slowly moving southward, I’m getting the heavier precipitation. Yet another washout to add the countless washouts already over the past few months.
  19. I think this is the 6th time in the past 6 months that the North Midlands has been stuck under an almost stationary area of rain. Grim.
  20. I've seen settling snow at low levels in the South of England in October before. If the air is cold enough and dew points low enough, snow can settle.
  21. Could be some snow for the Peak District on Saturday. More likely cold rain or sleet to lower levels.
