  1. A WOW temperature of 37.4C near Ramsey, north of Cambridge/Huntingdon .... massive pinch of salt with these personal stations....however there will be microclimates out there https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station
  2. Eira mawr. Back at my parents in Central North Wales .... 211m asl ( 700ft asl). 7 inches recorded level depth lucky blinkers.....stuck in sheltered snowless Cambridge (apart from the odd bit of icing dust this winter!)
  3. First proper winter living in Cambridge, and what strikes me is the sheer lack of snow that falls compared to the Welsh mountains where I was raised (Parents recorded 7 inches in the garden this morning) I have been impressed this year with the widespread ice days however Cambridge seems to be sheltered from all directions and lacks altitude.....however....I am sure you can tell me there are worse places to be for snow amounts on average (west of Cambridge seems to be a snow shadow towards Bedford way too?)
  4. naturally, very special are they! ... Myth says Cornish snow is so rare, anyone tasting the snowflakes on their lips will instantly become a Cornish language poet and King Arthur comes back from his grave to fight for ancient Britain against the saxons.......... Can you feel the sarcasm yet XD ..... I have Cornish family down Truro way..lovely part of the world.....hope you get a sniff of the white stuff
  5. They say we live on a small island....yet further north looks like a different world... my parents got 6 inches of snow in northern Wales :'(
  6. We should keep track of when the last snaw from your areas leaves.... Will the Scottish mountains retain a few patches of compacted snow for a whole year this time?
  7. Selling melting snow by the side of the road to tourists again?
  8. This was a snow drift in the process of being hacked at by farmers this morning........finally cleared...letting my parents get to the shops and buy food for the first time in 5 days. They only live 210m asl in Central North Wales....much worse drifts higher up. Thawing now quicker. Duw duw! Parts of the A44 in Powys are still closed :O
  9. "Please more snow" "Please no more snow" Funny thing about the weather... it doesn't listen
  10. How high are the drifts over there? Some of the drifting in the Gwent valleys are mad.......some reach up to the first floor and you could sledge down if you were brave enough
  11. We live in a maritime climate......the old fashioned weather is mild lol.. It's the European/Eurasian continent that gives us the goodies from the east with cold air. You will need the gulf stream to shut down for local created cold
  12. That's what I mean in a way...it is exciting that we do not truly know....I have no clue
  13. It's a watch the radar and see type of game.......the low has still yet to truly bump into the very cold air mass....it might weaken as its slowed in movement
  14. If Storm Emma weakens and slips southwards and misses Britain and Ireland.....you won't be seeing temperatures between 5-9C on Sunday in East Anglia lol
  15. early hours tomorrow morning looking better for eastern midlands...but SE only? ... maybe some will make it over later....winds were meant to switch to ENE/ east...not sure though?
  16. Could be worse .... could live in East Anglia and see nothing for 36 hours XD
  17. beautifully blue all day hmmm ... still a bit of snow in the Cambridge shade.... high of 1C ... that sun is a real snow thawer Back down to -1C now ..... any change in wind direction?
  18. My my this sun is strong. This area is really bereft of much cloud let alone showers over the last 2 days....any reasons?
  19. "big disappointment for so many" Thursday/ Friday is fantasy island territory in this current situation..... Wednesday night will probably have a pretty firm idea of any Friday incursion/breakdown ....but if the models disagree even then .... It's a nowcasting event
  20. We need more rampers here... Decent snow cover and icicle formation in Cambridge.....-2C
  21. Good luck down there, sure you don't need it...Been lucky in sheltered Cambridge. Having showers on an off all day ... tiny icicles forming brrr .. it will come . trust x
