  1. Great to see such Harmonie in here this evening so far......GFS 12z signal for heights into Greenland dropped on this run, fully expect chop and change on this for a good few days to come. Lots of wintery potential for many areas to come next 48 hours, low lying areas included!
  2. As a conservative property, angular momentum in a closed system has constant total but can be redistributed within that system. For example, the atmosphere transfers angular momentum poleward in both hemispheres principally by means of transient eddies. Poleward transfers of mass however mean decreased axial angular momentum because the mass moves to a smaller radius arm from the Earth's axis of rotation. If there are no interactions with the solid Earth, a Coriolis torque will ensue, acting to increase the zonal winds, and keep the angular momentum constant. The transport of angular momentum
  3. There have been many winters in the past where West based QBO and La Nina influences have been prominent. Would I be correct in saying these parameters individually tend to bring a milder UK winter but together pose a stronger threat of a SSW and colder than average UK winter? I did have a look at the composites a few weeks back but never saved any at the time as It was a nosey out of curiosity
  4. My cactus has recently flopped over badly and is dying for some reason, had it 10 years. Must know what's coming......... ๐Ÿฅถ Looking good early winter for a change. Cross model promise for the foreseeable rather than zonal dross! That's all we can ask for at this stage. Who cares if we get overexcited at a Fi chart that we would typically bin, it's 2020 and been the worst year in living memory. Stick your "caution" "more runs needed" "been here before" posts right into my veins because I don't care ๐Ÿ˜‚
  5. Horrible situation, it will be pitch black when the worst of it moves through, guaranteed power cuts, tornado's will be spinning of the edges here there and everywhere. 12 news now just updated to say the prediction is tracking slightly further to the east towards Charles county. That is good news as it will impact a much smaller populated area, hopefully it maintains that track. It can't go too Far East however or New Orleans starts to come into play.....
  6. 10m wave heights near the eye, the storm surge at high tide is going to wash away a lot of the coastal areas east of Houston. 10-15ft of water inland as far as lake Charles being predicted, insane. I know 2 guys hunkering down near Beaumont. One in a small town called Starks and the other out by Sour Lake, protecting there homes from potential looters post the storm. Families have evacuated. Praying for them tonight .
  7. Had some time to mull over last nights storm. I'm in a good position to compare it to the experiences I had in Beaumont just a year ago and I'm convinced last nights storm wiped the floor with anything I experienced there. Here's why....whilst in Beaumont I was lucky(unlucky ๐Ÿค”) to experience being in the red warning zone for a Tornado and witnessed some incredible intensity of winds, hail, rain and thunder as well as explosive lightning, however, it was always short lived. Although the intensity of each parameter was probably higher in Texas, the sensations experienced faded too quickly leavi
  8. I feel like the terminator is about to turn up.....
  9. I've chased this storm over Fife in the last few hours and it is nothing short of brilliant! Sweet spot is straight through the centre of Fife from the forth. A flash a second been happening for the last hour now, absoloute quality ๐Ÿ˜
  10. Jumping in the car now, heading your way....
  11. Lightning strike directly over Kelty a few minutes ago, must have heard a good rumble from that one? watch it live on lightning maps.org. @Mr Frost top holiday destination for lightning enthusiasts - Beumont Texas ๐Ÿ˜„
  12. Hi everyone, hope you're all well! Love a bit voltage, hopefully tonight doesn't disappoint. One rumble in the distance so far.......
  13. @Kirkcaldy Weather not sure the snow in Kirkcaldy will have much chance with this thing blazing up the sky
  14. Half the days total in an hour, nice squall ?
  15. Workshop: Stratospheric predictability and impact on the troposphere (18-21 November 2019): Programme ยท ECMWF Events (Indico) EVENTS.ECMWF.INT #StratosphericWS This workshop brought together experts to discuss and propose ways forward in representing the stratosphere in current and future... A lot of presentations to get through but worth a watch, lots of learnings. Amy Butler's presentation is superb in session 1. Interesting take from the presentation is the El Nino / La Nina relationship to SSW. Pre 1981 data shows a relationship between strong EL Nino ye
  16. Sorry mardatha I shud have mentioned I'm still in Beaumont texas ?๏ธ?๏ธ?
  17. Howdy everyone ? some interesting weather here tonight, its currently 1:30 in the morning and over, workplace been evacuated due to tornado, flood and thunderstorm warnings. The last 2 hours 3 inches of rain has fell, a tornado track was spotted 5 mile south of my appartment, on occasions there have been more lightning strikes per second than you could count, its insane and I'm loving it lol 20190510_014116.mp4
  18. Another cold one here this morning brrrrrr โ„๏ธ
  19. No weather pictures because it's just dull and cold so here some from wallmart ?
  20. Frickin cold here today, 4 deg C but wind chill had a bite, to get down to freezing here overnight, may have to scrape the car window in the morning, in texas, wow ??โ„๏ธ on a more serious note, there was 24 people killed yesterday from a tornado in neighbouring Alabama, 650 miles away from where I am in Beaumont, which is like a tornado in Belgium when I'm in Fife, so although it's very far away, the storm systems start and move from much closer to here. Unbelievable devastation the videos I've seen on the weather chanel, don't think I will bother storm chasing after all ?. Hope ya'll get some
  21. Day 1 in texas and I haven't seen a tornado yet. I am raging! ?๏ธ? It's been raining and overcast since I arrived, quite muggy tho, 19/20 deg C
  22. Very windy down by the river Leven where it enters the Firth of forth, tide not fully in yet a don't think but the waves are picking up and I'd imagine will be toppling the wall at some point soon, quite common for here and the swimming pool(just to the right outside the picture) often gets a flooded basement ???
  23. @Kirkcaldy Weather I tried to PM you but keeps saying you cant receive messages??
