  1. Cardiff looking good - heavy snow falling. Temp 0.2 Falling pressure
  2. To Terry G Oh yeah baby - just opened the front doo to check the stat eof the hill - currently impassible!!!! - already a very significant snow event and only really just getting going. Temp now dropped to 0.6!!! precipitation heavy and pressure dropping significantly! (feels like minor front)
  3. Precipitation itself helps to reduce airmass temp. if only temporarily!
  4. To Kold & Matthall1 Its snowing heavily in Pontprennau, Cardiff Temp beginning to drop as would be expected with this sort of event. Now 1.3 C Win increasing again to 10-15mph
  5. Anyone else getting grief off the wife yet!? My second child is coming on Friday!!!!!!!!! (Elective section!) Still enjoying wine!. Started snowing - lampost light stuff but definitely - hang on let me rub my eyes --------- yes definitely snowing in Pontprennau, Cardiff. Altitude 90M and temp 1.9 - time to get the sled out!
  6. Patience all ye! Make some local observations and all will become clear! It is as was ye forecast!
  7. Thanks Paul B, Got the impression of this earlier - note the density variant between cold and warm air masses. Appears cold on this occasion holding out a serious stronhold. Wind now picking up further, new drop of 10mB pressure. No precipitation in NE Cardiff but temp rise from 1.7 to 1.9, time for some action!
  8. Hello all again, Wine starting to kick in! To get the best idea of events that will transpire in any one location you need to do some simple local observations! - technology and especially radar are great - however - temp, changes in air pressure and outside observations of cloud cover (by day you could watch the different cloud movements). These obs will give you better chance of predicting local events. BTW - Southend looks like period of showery sleet/snow - followed by rain at around 4am!
  9. Thanks Andy, Everyone stay coooool !!!!!!!!! ha ha! No seriously - take a few local observations and it will support the previoues 18z run. Also remember large cold masss sitting over uk - laws of physics: cold heavier than warm air - precipitation falling into cold air mass - SNOW, WHIPPEEE!!!
  10. Dooon't panic all! Precipitation falling, temperatures favourable - forecasts sound - patience!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hi Bristol Blizzard, You only need surface temps of about 1degree as air temp about 1-2 degrees lower! - So stuff falling out of sky will still be snow at around 1degree. In fact ground temps up to 3 degrees can produce snow the stuff that looks lovely - big flakes but melts on the gound! Good to go on th esnow!
  12. HI all! Staying up wth wine & slippers to observe this rare event! Temp 1.7 C here in Cardiff (altitude 90m) pressure droppping steadily to 974mB, wind pickig up to around 10mph (letterbox flapping!). Watching precip radar, appears to be slow progress with patches of heavy precipitation. I sense less movement north and heavier downfalls. Less convectional warming?? Anyhoo - temp holding at 1.7 awaiting precipitation!!!!!
