    Spain weather

Outside of July - September it has been a very British year in Madrid, well above average rainfall, often damp/grey/chilly. Spring was characterised by frequent cool spells and downpours and this November has been incredibly grey and wet, currently 4c and damp/foggy with two more weather systems approaching later and for tomorrow, hopefully it picks up from next week.
  2. Terrible weather in Madrid much of this year, never such the 2nd driest capital in Europe could be so cold and wet.

Can't say I'm surprised. It was the same when I lived there. Wasn't there during July and August though so don't know what those two months are like.

Massive contrast to last year which was fantastic from Mid February until November.

This year just had July - September good, the rest has been a washout.

Hey guys! Been back here a few days from sunny Madrid, it was a 42c over there at the weekend so coming back to sunny skies and 27c was definitely more manageable .

    Spain weather

A truly disgusting March here in Madrid and looks the same the rest of the month. Wetter than any January I can remember in the UK and almost no sunshine for two weeks just storm after storm, consistenly below average and windy too with another washout weekend on the way followed by biting North Easterlies next week.
  5. Torrential rain here in Madrid everyday for the past 12 days now and no sign of any improvement! this is worse than the UK :nonono:

  6. As bad as being back in the UK lately in Madrid. Grey grey grey everyday.

  7. Maybe some snow showers later here when the winds turn more WNW? can see them in the distance to the west. If not, back to Madrid on Sunday although living in Spain I have been surprised just by how consistently cold those nights are in the winter, most morning in December started off around -3/-4c though very dry air so almost never a frost.
  8. Nothing here although The Wrekin nearby has a covering. Pity as was hoping to see something wintry before I head back to Madrid, but just light sleety rain in the end.
  9. Darnit, looks like the heavy stuff will stay south east of here. Just sleety rain and 3c
  10. Hey all! long time no see My first time in the UK in a long, long time and looking at the 06z GFS we might get something this evening here, other charts further south however. Living in Madrid seeing snow is pretty rare although last time I came to the UK in March it was snowing there
  11. I'm super jealous to be living in Madrid right now for once haha! parents said the weekend delivered best snow in many years and just sent me this picture right now heavy snow again.
  12. 29c here in Madrid today!

  13. Summer lives on in Madrid! 26c today and 29c Friday! :D

Hope you all are well, visiting from Madrid and left airport this morning in heavy snow!!! Crazy that it's warmer/sunnier here than there this weekend! though did have a 2 week Spring heatwave!
  16. 25c here in Madrid Monday and now it's snowing...

Enjoy- I see it was only 2C in the afternoon there! Only 10 degrees cooler than Manchester...

  17. After 5 months living in Madrid can safely say the weekend curse is not a Telford thing, sunny workdays followed by consistent washout weekends here since October :laugh:

Madrid has a Mediterranean climate but with continental influences. I definitely wouldn't call it a true continental climate.

The coastal Med is very humid in the summer - it seems to be a common misconception amongst Brits that the coastal Med is drier than the UK, when it definitely isn't.

I know the Med.! Tourists see it in blue skies and calm seas. I have seen it at its vicious worst in a goutte (d'air) froid, for example. It is a potentially violent sea and climate! It's very hard to classify some regions. We too, here, have many influences and much weather!

I'm working as an English Teacher Spikecollie and yes really enjoying it here thanks, a little to much tequila on weekends though ha ha!.

I definitely noticed the cooler feel to warm spell here to, for example end of October/early November had a heatwave with temperatures around 24-27c but it would drop as much as 20c overnight, I remember Halloween hitting 25 degrees then waking up to 4 the next morning !!

It has been on the news a lot though all the flooding this month and in November/December. The downside here is that when it does rain it doesn't move through like in UK we might get 3 hours rain, then clearance, squally showers/brightens up, here it will start raining and go a full 72 hours :laugh: not ideal when it falls on a weekend as usually it's relentless or at least it has been this winter.

Fingers crossed next weekend delivers some warmth as UV is already as strong as early April in UK and I need it after a few weeks of feeling a vampire with these washout weekends haha!

Good luck in your move. :D ....from one that did it years ago and has loved every minute... too hot in Spain though.

You'll certainly see snow on the mountains.

Oh brilliant. I lived in Pozuelo so the other side of Madrid. Prepare to be disappointed if cold is what you like - Madrid's reputation as being cold in winter is based on the Spanish perception of cold which starts at about 15C haha. The most noticeable difference will be the sunshine. It also rained a lot when I was there.

      conor123

      Thanks guys!!

I'm a heat and thunderstorm lover anyway though so luckily still will have a few weeks warmer than the British summer when I arrive before the Autumn kicks in aha! certainly be nice to swap 40 hours of sunshine in December for triple that amount!

Well after what seems like years of trying i'm finally leaving sunny Shropshire and starting a new job overseas near Madrid later this month Going from 1300 hours of sun a year to 2800 will be quite the pleasant shock!
