Is it me or does it seem to be heading almost due East now?
Edit: Maybe not...
-
Seriously considering just waiting it out until it arrives at around 1-2am

Strikes showing up close to Brighton now - possibly in earshot if anyone's in the area?

Nothing wrong with that!
Funny thing is I don't like the storms but I love the excitement on here, the photography that can sometimes come out of an event like this... and all the updating on where the action is, even if in my case it serves as a warning to go into bat mode and hide under a duvet with headphones on and the world hopefully off. (I'm autistic, and find loud noises and flashing light overwhelming most of the time. Unpredictability makes them worse, so storm tracking really helps me!)
Lol. I know what you mean. I used to be terrified of storms when I was younger. Now I find them fascinating and it's been very interesting learning more about them, though that being said, I know the chances are really low, but I always get paranoid that lightning will strike my house when there is a storm. Silly thing to worry about I know but it is what it is!

I do enjoy nights like this. The forum is a hive of activity, there's a storm potential, and a general air of 'will we, won't we'
I know, I'm odd.

Do have a bit of an on and off headache tonight, can sometimes mean storms. Not ruling it out completely just yet...

Oh God, it's turned. It's going to miss me now

Should do! It coincides with the highly unstable air due to strat trundling northwards in the next 1-2 hours
Cool. I'll start watching for flashes around 11-12 sort of time then

Question is: Can that lot across the channel retain its momentum?

Just got home from visiting in Norfolk, had a quick moderate shower just north of Ipswich (the same one the hit home earlier on!), and driving down the A12 about half an hour ago, there was some heavy rain off to the West that bought with it some lovely cloudscapes. All eyes on the channel now, feeling pretty humid out there...
-
Been visiting in Norfolk all day, will take about 2 hours to get home. Hopefully might bump into the storm on the way back home, before all the main stuff later
-
Storm at home right now, guess where I'm not
-
Hmmm. Westward shift in the MDT there. Still in the slight though, and I do feel like we'll see something tonight...

Hi all, I'm a long-term lurker I've finally decided to sign up.
Can anyone on the south-coast see any cloud build up yet? I'm based in Southend and often sit on the seawall when storms come in as you can see them coming up over the North Downs, the Medway and over the Thames Estuary. Last year we had some fantastic cloud formation preceding one thuderstorms, so I'm hoping for something today.
Hi and welcome to the forums!
I'm just down the road from you in Benfleet, hopefully we'll see something good tonight

Very hazy start to the day here. Once that burns away, I think humidity and surface heating will soar

On a train near Barking now, looking a little threatening to the SE but nothing there apparently...
-
Earlier storm cleared the air nicely, it's lovely here at Twickenham.
Wasps 10-14 Exeter at half time for those wondering
-
Ipswich taking a right pounding now. I think it's the storm that passed through here earlier
-
Humidity soaring now. Nice smell of rain around as well.
-
Back of the cloud passing overhead now. Very nice little storm to start the day, with some good thunder.

Basically a posh way of saying lightning strike
