Sounds like it’s moved away now. Was quite a fun 10 or so minutes though, especially considering it’s only mid May.
Time to get some sleep I think!

Wow this lightning is bright! It’s all going a bit mad!
-
Really picking up here now!
-
Things are starting to pick up now, thunder getting more frequent
-
Think the main part is moving up through East London, limiting me to only distant rumbles. Not seeing many flashes either for some reason
-
Still pretty distant at this stage but wow that thunder sounds nice

Well here comes the rain, closely followed by a nice deep boom of thunder!

Currently watching flights try and fail to land at Gatwick on Flightradar while waiting to see my first distant flashes out the window

My mum and I have both got non disease related headaches so it's a 100% risk
Haha, pleased to see I’m not the only one that uses headaches as a storm forecast

Think I’ve just heard a distant rumble, which will be my first of the year if so
Edit: Yep, definitely thunder

Don’t want to speak too soon but it feels like it’s possibly starting to slow down a bit…?
I’m aware the red warning is in place until 3 so it may just be a brief lull

This is crazy, still no damage apart from one missing fence panel next door though

It’s certainly living up to the hype here, these are the strongest winds I’ve seen in a very long time.

Wind getting up here now, no damage to report yet, hopefully it stays that way.
However our BBQ has been for a wander across the patio

Somewhat unexpectedly, we have thunder! Looks to have come from North of me

Sky to the West a wall of black again, still no lightning though
-
The heavy rain that passed through London earlier has now arrived here. Went from nothing to torrential almost immediately
-
Menacing skies incoming from the SW, no lightning though

Just had a brief heavy shower, no thunder though

About 5 minutes of light rain which did not even dampen the ground. Knew the writing was on the wall for here as early as 11am with a cold easterly blowing up the Estuary and Cb's only really getting going to the North West and West around 2pm.
Did look spectacular way off to the west but another damp squib for SE Essex.
Yep, and though it’s annoying to have missed out, considering some of the flooding in London, maybe we should count ourselves a bit lucky
