Roads are dodgy in Oldham, Gritters haven't been out and its snowing pretty heavy now.

I am work in Shaw atm and it turned from rain to snow already at the low levels with a dusting on the grass etc . Up where I live at 297m it would be pure snow and I can see from down here that it is white up there. Never mind waiting till later in the morning. Need that ppn now!

I feel like I am missing something here. MO video shows a fair bit of Snow for this area from 8pm, heavy for a while and then on and off for 24hrs and the models show this too but the Meto warnings do not match this at all. The MO warning just show a small area of Scotland under a snow warning with the rest of us under an ice warning. Very strange ice warning considering its unbroken cloud here and looking set to remain that way as this band off PPN starts to make its way inland. Looking at the satellite images, The front is starting to stall a bit now too. Can't see there being a clear sky and icy conditions developing here, especially if the PPN is good whether it be snow or rain....

Cloud started to roll over this location after a clear and frosty night and we have light snow flakes / graupel at the moment. Nice to get some October Snow hey ? Now then, lets get back to warm and dry weather please mother nature :)

After a damp squib of a day yesterday the heavy rain has kicked in. None stop all night and set to continue through the day. Nothing worse than cold wet and windy tripe.

Wow this spell turned out to be almost as severe as the last. It's widely 8 inches deep here with lot of drifting. I imagine alot of the roads are now cut off up here even my front door is close to being snowed in with a drift.

Swain I'm in Shaw so about 100 m ask lol. Where I live 10 mins up the road it's 297m ?

Blizzard conditions up here currently but not sticking with the very strong wind driving it horizontally.

Yeah strange, the wind has actually been worse than the storms we had last year and is blowing my aluminium conservatory apart. Even stranger how its gone clear to from the whiteout weve had all day. Need more snow!!!

Probably deeper further up towards buckstones road. I've got 2ft drifting approaching my front door. Could be literally snowed in by tonight. Met o warnings officially suck but then again I do always say don't trust snow amount charts in setups like this.

There were supposed to be to waves from that. The first pummelling Ireland and Wales and SW before it then starts pushing north. This cold blast could trump 2010

Can you believe the warnings ? Pretty much none stop snow since last night including blizzards and even the Meto warning continue to go around us and just about miss. Oldham more so the east should of been amber atleast imo. 15cm easily here and then theres the drifting..

Cruising to around 10cm of snow here with these persistent showers which have been almost none stop for a few hours. There is no way without a 4x4 suv you can drive in that so its touch and go whether to go work as I would have to walk and 45 mins to an hour and its already drifting. Good Stuff.

Stupid Quote bug! can't believe its not fixed after what 2 yrs ? Any quite annoying but at the same fun with the snow here. The snow has been powdery and constant for days now yet the build up is slow. 4 inches or there abouts so far without the drifts. If only the heavier bursts lasted longer than 10-20 mins because I am pretty sure the whole region would be at stand still. The main roads are already terrible. We need some prolonged stuff now for the ultimate "snowed in" episode.

Haha so we did get a bit of a dumping after all. Nice.
