  1. Sorry to say I think it's highly unlikely LL. If anything does occur it's probably going to be much further south and west. Parts of Devon and Cornwall have some sunshine and warmer temps than us and some reports elsewhere suggest something might brew down there later today, but I have my doubts.
  2. A decent couple of days here in Hastings/St Leonards-on-Sea have now fallen foul of the cloudy misty clag that other areas have suffered during that time. Tuesday was something of a slow start but we ended up with 4.3 hours of sunshine and the warmest day of the year here so far at 17.0c. Wednesday saw the low cloud and mist burn off by mid morning leading to 9.0 hours of sunshine but a slightly lower max of 16.3c. Currently a murky and chilly feeling 12.3c here today.
  3. That pretty much sums up the last couple of days here Daniel, glorious warm sunshine from mid morning onwards. Can't complain
  4. Whilst doing my Hastings weather obs earlier this morning mist and low cloud quickly dispersed along the coastal fringe leading to a mostly sunny and quite warm late morning and afternoon here in St Leonards-on-Sea. Temperature now nudging 15c with just a light breeze. I'm off to cut the grass now, the first cut this year and around a month later than I would usually do it owing to the weather.
  5. After a misty murky morning the skies cleared here in St Leonards-on-Sea to give some lengthy spells of warm sunshine for much of the afternoon, 17.0c was the max locally. Interesting to read the posts in the convective chat because skies have certainly darkened here in the last hour or so but that's coincided with a noticeable drop in temperature and dew points. Currently 14.1c. On a seperate note, today was my 1st day of induction as a volunteer weather observer for Hastings Borough Council, a task formerly carried out by a Council employee until the budget cuts deemed it impossible to carry on. Thankfully though the Council have maintained the observation sites and as a result the small team of volunteers I have now joined are responsible for taking daily readings, posting them on the Met Office WoW site, in the local weather kiosk and sending the weekly report to the local paper. Some proper Old Skool equipment involved, including a Campbell-Stokes recorder and a barograph.
  6. The earlier mist and murk has cleared and with the sun breaking through it feels quite pleasant here. 13.8c currently
  7. No sfrerics showing up anywhere in our region as far as I can tell from this website ? https://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=sat;r=0;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=;n=0;y=51.2166;x=0.3324;z=8;d=2;dl=2;dc=0;
  8. Well at least it didn't rain here today in St Leonards-on-Sea. With less than an hour of sunshine and a max of 8.4c it's probably just as well.
  9. Unfortunately that does appear to be the case Daniel. I wish it weren't. Edit: Just for the record and to make Snowflake Queen aware, I have never met Daniel and probably never will so a reunion is out of the question. Happy now SQ ?
  10. If you have a point to make SQ please do spell it out so the whole forum can see it and judge for themselves.
  11. I really feel for the folk who have come down here for the Bank Holiday weekend, today has been atrocious. So far the max temp is 6.9c and it's been raining since about 9am.
  12. Yes I saw your post about that in the regionals Lassie. Given the torrential downpours here around the same sort of time I was hoping we might be in luck as well but it wasn't to be.
  13. There were some pretty potent showers drifting up from the Channel last night producing some heavy downpours in our area. I didn't hear any thunder though , the nearest lightning strikes at the time were apparently near Heathrow and in north west London. So far today it's just cold, wet and windy here, making it a miserable start to the Bank Holiday.
  14. A maximum of just 8.8c here today and that was reached before midday, it's gone downhill since with rain and drizzle being blown about in gusty winds. A depressing day again.
  15. Sadly I think you have come to the wrong place for information like that Donna. If it's any help though the Countryfile forecast this evening was going for an unsttled outlook with spells of rain and becoming colder in our neck of the woods.
  16. Well since posting musical videos is currently a thing here I can't resist this one .
  17. 2 or 3 hours of continuous precipitation here in St Leonards-on Sea so far, varying between light/moderate snow and snizzle. Settling on some surfaces, current temperature bang on 0.0c.
  18. Nail on head right there. To think on Friday I was sitting on the seafront in pleasantly warmish sunshine.
  19. Light snow just started falling here in St Leonards-on-Sea, currently 1.4c. Kudos to all those who took part in the Hastings half marathon today. Edit: Snow now becoming moderate.
  20. I spent a very pleasant afternoon in the sunshine on the seafront in Hastings. With barely a breeze it felt comfortable at around 13c. Difficult to believe what we might have in store just a few hours away now.
  21. Had a slow and tedious drive in rain and drizzle from St Leonards-on-Sea to my re-arranged hospital appointment in Sidcup this morning and was quite surprised to see some occasional patches of snow still lingering alongside the A21 on the way.
  22. Here in St Leonards-on-Sea so far it's just small snow grains being blown about in 30mph winds. Currently -3.5c
  23. Same here in St Leonards-on-Sea at the moment. Nearby Herstmonceux is currently reporting a temperature of -5c and DP -7.6. The DP there dropped as low as -11c earlier this evening. Shiver me timbers.
  24. Just started snowing here again in St leonards-on-Sea. Had 5cms of level snow on a flat surface from the snowfall earlier today. I've got a hospital appointment in Sidcup at 10am tomorrow but cancelling that having seen the footage of the A21 on the news earlier. Currently -2.5c here.
