  1. I hope I'm allowed to post these, but, where're the 1947 and 1963 reduxes? Because I cannae see them: I do hope that ACTUAL charts contribute something to the discussion? And, FYI, I hope the GFS is wrong!
  2. You're not allowed to make realistic statements in the MAD thread: it's for snow-rampers only!
  3. Well, quite a few cherries are being bitten just now. . . We haven't even had the first bite yet!
  4. Indeed; and if anyone pretends to be able to be precise four weeks out, they're telling porkies.
  5. Come on now, it's nae that bad. Nothing that won't be put right by a QTR and a -NAO -- so long as it's not 'west based'!
  6. Forget the weather, we'll soon be able to buy wine by the pint!
  7. Oh, I don't know -- this winter's starting to sound like 2018-19: the severe cold and snow is just around the corner. 21C in February, anyone?
  8. I'm going to buy a book or three. What with 'localised' tornados and all that?
  9. Well, I am pleased that last night's tornado was only 'localised', had it been widespread, I'd be worrying!
  10. I think I've lost a few hours. I blame it on the Russians!
  11. Aye! I got addicted to Teletext in 2001. And what an understated winter that one was. . . -22C in March!
  12. I remember back in late November (it might have been early December?) 1995, and it was -12C. Fast-forward twelve hours, and all the frozen pipes had burst. But, thank the Lord, the water missed the TV!
  13. Well, that's Drumochter for you -- there was many a Friday night when I had to traverse it behind a snowplough! Oh, and by the way, I do miss Scotland!
  14. That's an interesting question, MJB: January 1969 had a CET of 5.5C, but February was bloody marvellous! But, overall, I agree with Kasim: more often than not, overall weather patterns tend to persist. Meanwhile, let's get back to the models, eh?
