  1. Same here, chaps and chapesses, it reminds me of a Christmas Eve in the 1960s (somewhere between 1963 and '67) when it was very cold, foggy and frosty all day. . . God, I was so excited! But unwrapping prezzies with rain running down the windows was a major disappointment; I can tell you!
  2. Okay, Matt, I'm with you. . . But, should it all go pear-shaped, I'll claim plausible deniability!
  3. I remember seeing diamond dust in January 1985: it was a super-clear and sunny morning, and the stuff was sparkling in the sunlight as it fell.

  9. And here's this week's Met. Office Ten-Day Trend. . . Uncertainty is the word!
  10. I don't want to embarrass myself with a winter forecast. . . But I am eagerly awaiting the forum's response to the upcoming GFS run.
  11. So what caused the cold weather (along with a few blizzards) between Xmas and early January then? It seems to me, that the extreme cold had set-in weeks before the Canadian warming exerted its effect?
  12. Well, I still recall January 1987; my heating was on its highest setting, running virtually non-stop. I think that that was the most expensive ten days, weatherwise, I've ever known!
  13. We might moan about the Beeb and the Met. Office, but GBeebies is surely setting the bar at an all-time low:
