  1. Derecho: It's nae looking too good, is it
  2. WYorksWeather : I take it you went for 8.2 too! Unless I've forgotten (quite possibly) so did I.
  3. Jonboy: with a combination of nuclear fission and renewables. Maybe they'll resuscitate tidal power. The problem is not insoluble; what's needed is political will and sensible, targeted investment.
  4. Today's Ten-Day Trend won't induce much ramping:
  5. It's shirt-sleeves weather over here, today, but I wouldn't call it 'hot'!
  6. Here's this week's Deep Dive; it's not exactly all that optimistic.
  7. overcast I get what you're saying, but my feet use even less power than your A1!
  8. overcast I'm not sure you are -- solar electricity is emission free, and Toyota are developing new batteries.
  9. B87 I guess that's why I pay analogues no attention whatsoever: they're about useful as an igloo in the Sahara!
  10. jonboy I agree with you, and I think the biggest problem is that, to be an MP or a Senator, politicians -- of all colours -- need absolutely no proof of their respective knowledge in order to gain the highest office. Yet, they prattle on about all sorts of things they know sod-all about!
  11. We certainly do have a problem, and powerful people are at the heart of it:
  12. *Stormforce~beka* A Pakamac and some galoshes? PS: This outfit should do it!
  13. Stabilo19 It's been like that for twenty years, mate. 2009, 2010 and 2013 excepted! In the meantime, temps are set to rise, come the weekend.
  14. *Stormforce~beka* Hi Beka, it's still sunny (if a little hazy) over here.
  15. 1963 for me: loads of the white stuff, and thunder was more common back then, too.
  16. One thing that is inevitable, but not addressed by politicians, is the mass northward migration of climate refugees; if we see migration as a problem now, it's nothing to what's coming. I find it ironic that so many of those denying climate change are the same people who rant about immigration. How can they be so shortsighted?
  17. SollyOlly No, he has hit the nail on the head. . . I simply do not know where these denialist loons are coming from.
  18. Not at all bad, now the cloud has moved away. I just can't remember the last time I thought 12C in March 'cold'! Back in 2013, it was more like 2!
  19. About 2 feet, back in the early 1990s, in Scotland, with a SW'erly wind.
  20. damianslaw The earliest sunburn I ever got was in February 1989, when I was painting my house. . . in the Scottish Highlands.
  21. DTHFCJ Thank goodness supporting Spurs is a family tradition, the North London connection and all that. It's almost a family tradition. . . My grandson (who's football mad) is on the books of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. And, guess who his second team is?
  22. DTHFCJ I was on my honeymoon back then: listening to Spurs lose, on the radio, didn't go down too well!
