  1. I'll go for warm and wet, so long as said warm and wet doesn't come from endless drizzle!
  2. raz.org.rain I agree but, back in the Swinging Sixties, 22C/72F was about average for London. . . What's Cfb?
  3. raz.org.rain In the meantime, after nine months of almost constant rainfall, are we facing yet another summer of hosepipe bans? How much rain do we need for our water supplies to be secure -- four more years?
  4. Fen Wolf What, the same colour of government that has spent three decades adding to the problem: Profits before people?
  5. *Stormforce~beka* It'll be breezy tomorrow, Beka -- so, hang on to your hair!
  6. *Stormforce~beka*: Trust me. It's better than it's been for months!
  7. Is this (or is it not) the most optimistic Ten Day Trend since January's yellow snow warnings?
  8. Given the presence of petechiae and the fact that the hyoid bone was intact, I'd suggest that the winter of 2023-24 was smothered at birth.
  9. WYorksWeather: Well, we had 27C, up in the Highlands, in April 2003. . . and a load of forest fires to go with it.
  10. I used to help my mother put the washing out on the line, back in the 1960s, and it used to freeze solid. . . Oh, well: some things just don't happen in this day and age!
  11. January 1963 for the coldest, and July 2022 for the hottest. . .
  12. *Stormforce~beka*: It's Costa del Clag down here!
  13. Sky Ful: And while HMG has blethered on about carbon neutrality, it's cut rural bus routes. . . You know it makes sense! 16 million miles of England's bus routes axed INEWS.CO.UK Towns and cities are becoming increasingly cut off after losing more than half their bus services since 2010
  14. Alleluia, my cat won't wake me up at 5:30!
  15. summer blizzard: I agree. The spring of 1983 was pretty dire. But the following July and August, in utter contrast, were both stonkers!
  16. richie384: A heat pump would be ideal for the flat I live in, as it was built in 2012 and has fantastic insulation. But, alas, I have a next-to-useless combi boiler which, even when it works, heats the rooms far too quickly. Conversely, heat pumps are unsuitable for older houses that were built prior to the changes in building regs. . . I'm sure the day will come when all homes are heated by electricity -- oil & gas will inevitably run out at some point. They say, quite rightly, that the sun doesn't always shine and the wind doesn't always blow. . . But the tides never stop!
  17. Derecho: It's nae looking too good, is it
  18. WYorksWeather : I take it you went for 8.2 too! Unless I've forgotten (quite possibly) so did I.
  19. Jonboy: with a combination of nuclear fission and renewables. Maybe they'll resuscitate tidal power. The problem is not insoluble; what's needed is political will and sensible, targeted investment.
