  1. Earthshine its not just about the weather..you need to watch for culture shock when you move abroad
  2. In Absence of True Seasons Kelowna is well known as heat trap sandwiched in the Rocky Mountains
  3. its strange to think that in reality 43c in Edmonton Alberta should be more likely than the UK...however the hottest temperature ever recorded here is 37.2c back in 1937
  4. the geese are back sure sign of spring here
  5. Don i purposely didn't show the following week when it goes back to highs of -8c and snow ..damn those SSWs damn you all to hell
  6. Summerlover2006 because no one is a live to have experienced and comment on this summer to give it some context.
  7. sundog its because of previous articles about ice free arctic this just one example from 2012 from the guardian Arctic expert predicts final collapse of sea ice within four years | Climate crisis | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM As sea ice shrinks to record lows, Prof Peter Wadhams warns a 'global disaster' is now unfolding in northern latitudes
  8. Weather Enthusiast91 how can as you say a horrific summer be underrated??
  9. B87 Euro 96 that June plus i got married at the end of the summer..so i tend to remember 1996 better than say 2005
  10. have a nice sunny +8 to +12c week to 10 days coming up..so the spring melt is now on..gets colder thereafter but who cares
  11. clocks went forward yesterday ..so still light at 8pm and still dark at 8am
  12. models are calling summers over ..better luck next year ..see you all June 2025
  13. 1996 is overrated IMO if you like hot weather..90, 94,95 & 97 were better ..for pleasant warm weather that wasn't particularly wet you cant really go wrong with 1996
  14. clocks go forward here on Sunday morning at 2am
  15. HurricaneSteve that would be me in mid June here in Edmonton
  16. i don't remember 1980 summer being very wet..cool yes but IMO summers of 77-79 and 85-88 were worse.
  17. LetItSnow! my Dad was born in June 1933 ..i will ask him how those summers were
  18. here the first 20c/25c are close together ..on average the first 20c is around 20-25th April first 25c is 1-5th May.
  19. Cold finally loosens its grip today as it gets above freezing..this after 2 weeks of -20s and -30s and lots of snow.
  20. John S2 i dont think 1984 is underrated though..very warm and relatively thundery summer esp down south..counting all the summers after 1976 and before 2003 you would be hard pushed not to find 1984 in the top 5 IMO
  21. Midlands Ice Age as of 2023 China alone accounts for 30% of global emissions..the UK accounts for 0.79%..our citizens are being beaten round the head with a big stick and being financially punished for something that is totally out of our control..soon enough more and more people will start to push back when they realize all their sacrifices and all the financial penalties have resulted in nothing as emissions keep on increasing at least until 2030 and probably way beyond as China and India etc. just do their own thing ..honestly IMO the Chinese dont give a sheet about climate change they are more concerned with global dominance by the end of the century.
  22. Weather-history Italia '90 makes this summer special ..probably why a lot of people remember this as being a good summer.
