  1. yesterday was lovely wall to wall sunshine 15c got up this morning and its snowing and -5c..."my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined"
  2. BlueSkies_do_I_see if the EU is like Canada then they only ever log you entering the country but never when you leave ..so they would have no idea if you had left or not after 90 days..and honestly i highly doubt officials would spend anytime trying to track you down
  3. ANYWEATHER not really..in terms of technology history tells us the furture..it will happen..that's the problem with any future predictions we look at it through todays eyes and todays knowledge..im saying people alive 200 years ago would have no concept of todays world ..not a single person/scientist/politician could envisage the world we take for granted today...therefore we cant envisage the world in the future where our knowledge will be outdated and obsolete and the world we know today will be long dead and buried.
  4. Sky Full two things that will happen in the next two centuries (assuming no nuclear conflict) is the world population will collapse to more sustainable levels... by 2200 i expect the population to be half what it is today if not even lower...secondly technology will have advanced at such a pace that we cant even imagine today where it will be or what it will look like...climate change will be a thing of the past by that point..everything we use and see in our everyday lives today will be gone...we will be as far removed from todays world as we are removed from the dark ages.
  5. Sun Chaserno snow..i witnessed a cold front at ground level literally roll up the cloud mist and fog into glorious sunshine..you could walk and follow the back of the cloud and mist on the ground up the hill (this was in Southway btw) as it was pushed away..i have never seen such a clear definition between a warm and cold sector right on the ground.
  6. Sun Chaser can confirm Exeter is way sunnier than Plymouth ..often it would be misty murky and drizzly in Plymouth but once i got the other side of the moors east Devon and Exeter would be dry bright and sunny ..actually did witness a fabulous weather phenomena in Plymouth in 1996
  7. WYorksWeather your missing the point..taxation and banning stuff doesn't work and using seat belts as an example isnt the same either..using your argument we should ban smoking and alcohol because in terms of related deaths and anti social benefits they are way higher than driving a car..prohibition didn't work because people will still find ways around it..increasing tax wont work either as people will still find ways to pay for it ..you cant force people into compliance by beating them round the head with rules and financial penalties because people will and do rebel ..then you will have the GP really push back on climate measures in a huge way...look what happened with the poll tax riots and the non payment that occurred
  8. WYorksWeather taxing the sheet out of stuff or banning will not work and it doesn't work..what works is making petrol cars etc obsolete through making other forms of power more efficient and less costly and we are just not there yet..IMO EV are a short term stop gap until other way more efficient modes of power generation is developed which will happen as technology advances
  9. TwisterGirl81 when i lived in Exeter i worked for 3 years in Plymouth..often the weather would be utter garbage in Plymouth but when i got home it was fine and dry in Exeter esp in summer..have to say Plymouth can be pretty grim in the winter..often wet drab and grey and the weather is none too special either
  10. for me the problem is not climate change and the world is warming because that is a known fact because it has already happened..thus that cannot be denied. The problem is nobody knows the actual consequences on the world 50-100 years down the line because it has not happened..what we have is an educated guess on future predictions that cannot be guaranteed due to the fact that all predictions for the future the past tells us they will always be wrong esp the further away you are from year zero.
  11. Methuselah im just old enough to remember the summer of 1976..but i still put 1995 summer ahead of 1976 with 1983 a close third ..as for Spurs getting relegated in 1977 oh how we laughed ..until we got relegated the following season
  12. 110cm Edmonton by end of March 2011..not been close since
  13. i remember going to West Edmonton mall (one of the biggest in the world) the day before it was closed for lockdown..there was literally me and two other people in the whole mall and only one shop remained open all the others out of nearly 900 had closed ..all the mall music was still playing but felt like you were in a some zombie apocalypses movie
  14. Fantastic summer for me..spent 3 weeks in June on hols in Cyprus..in fact it was the last Holiday i have been on.
  15. last time we went for El Nino into strong La Nina was 2010..winter that followed here was long cold and very snowy
  16. SollyOlly cold and snow stinks at this time of the year ..i just want winter to be over
  17. Don yep look how much the waters round south America have dropped in just the last 7 days some 3-5c
  18. *Stormforce~beka* You cant get lunch at walmart no such thing as sandwiches or a meal deal..they dont do proper bacon its just cheap rashers and nothing else..gammon just doesn't exist at all ..potatoes are garbage either yellow or russets and thats it ..choice of vegetables is pretty limited..fresh meat and fish forget it..mainly frozen and thawed out (sold as fresh)..mind you you can get your car fixed/serviced at walmart if you want..cashpoints are mainly inside the bank or you may find one at the mall (inside a bank lol)..can only cross the road at designated cross walks or traffic lights..people tend to go to bars/Restaurants or hybrids..which are located in shopping districts there is no town centre so to speak..no such thing as a pub crawl they are all far apart. i have lived in Canada so long now i dont really miss things in the UK..but when i do come home always have a Chinese, Indian & trip to the chippy..i always spend a day at the beach even if the weather is sheet and wonder in amazement at the countryside.
  19. *Stormforce~beka* everyday things are different that you never really thought of..like going to Walmart is totally different to going to Tesco for example.the store layouts are different and everyday consumables that you take for granted in the UK just don't exist here..pubs don't exist..the way you bank is different people still write cheques etc..when i first came here i couldn't find a cash point where i would find them in the UK..Takeaways are not the same.. no popping to the local chippy, Chinese or Indian ..if you like burgers and pizza fill your boots!..jay walking is a crime here..the way the traffic lights change is different and you can turn right on a red light which you cant in the UK..If you dont have correct change on transit you cant get on..jeez they dont even have cashless transport system..i could go on
  20. *Stormforce~beka* you would think that Canada would be easy...because everybody speaks English ..but its totally different to the UK
  21. SollyOlly its garbage..nobody wants this kind of sheet after a lovely warm spring weekend.
