  1. The only way we are going to see showers is if the winds turn more to the east, this has been more of a Northerly Cold Spell or North Westerly so far, watch those showers North of Norfolk, same old same old, get to Norwich and die, the ones in the North Sea could stay offshore and impact Herne and Eastern kent later. Now if only they would be from a NE Or a ENE And it would be GAME ON! As Ladbrokes Say!

Probably right!!! But you never know!! Im hoping from a selfish point of view they skirt down the east anglia coast building up intensity and then a big north easterly wind blows them inland to ME good.gif

  2. Hi All

I don't post on here much but I guess Im a "lurker" and try to make my own opinion up about what I think may happen. The last couple of days has been disappointing to say the least (in my area) especially when you look at some of the charts that were being posted in the last couple of weeks.

But I like to remain optimistic and I think parts of East Anglia and the South East (largely East Kent but possibly Central Kent too) may see some snow showers (poss q light) later on today from a batch of showers currently off the coast near the Wash and Norfolk but I think by about rush hour they will be in the Kent area if they manage to keep the intensity. Have a look at the current radar on the meteox website and then also look at the forecasted hours and you will see they are making their way down the East Coast. What do you all think? Don't shoot me down if you don't think thats the case. Just a thought.

I wasn't able to post a link/picture as it said the site doesn't allow me to use the "image extension on this community"

  3. Hi all. I very rarely post on this site but I read others comments a fair bit and also use the charts to make up my own mind but respect the more knowledgeable people on the site - Steve Murr, Nick Sussex, Nick F, GP, Blast from the Past, TEITS etc. Perhaps someone could comment on what I am about to suggest.

I was struggling to see where the precipitation may come from this evening - I know there have been the odd report of a few snowflakes in the air and I noticed some too but the BBC seemed quite sure there could be 1-2cm tonight and I thought from looking at the GFS 6-12 hr charts earlier today there could be a Kent Clipper/streamer (light in nature). But looking at the different radars I couldn't really see where this was coming from. However, I then looked at this website http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur and it appears to show some precipitation over France/Belgium moving toward the SE Kent Coast. I live in Dymchurch. It just seems strange to me as the wind appears to be coming from an North-Easterly direction from the North Sea area yet this precipitation seems to moving from a SE direction! Perhaps someone else may comment on this.

  4. Its was not model output discussion i think! but i did reply by saying ggreat postrolleyes.gif

I know I saw your reply. Cheers! Ive tried looking at different threads but cant find the posts. Oh well. Better get myself another vodka and keep up with this rollercoaster of emotions as Nick Sussex would say. Get the Prozac out!!!!

  5. Hi, it may well be a faulty sensor, or the shed is acting as a heating element that when sun is on the one side the air inside the shed heats up thus heating the walls, the walls then conducut heat into the nearby air where the sensor is located. That theory doesnt explain the night time temps though, try seeing if by moving it makes a difference, like bringing it into the house and see how accurate it is. You may also want to consider the possiblity of radio interference, this is a problem even at 433mhz and my wireless station as sometimes i get Spikes of about 40c.

Thanks for the information - it could well be the sun heating up the shed. The night time temps seem to be about right so surely this means the sun is affecting the temps. I will try moving it around at the weekend to experiment.

  6. HiAll

I have been a "fan" of this website for a couple of years but never took part in the forums.

I recently got a weather station (Modena Weather Station FW301 Ferrari) and have set it up and placed the temperature and humidity sensor on the shed approximately 2-2.5m off the ground. It is in the shade all day long and faces the house (North) - it is well within the 30 metres range. The main unit is in the lounge and there is only the one wall between the sensor and main unit.

Below is an example of the weather station I have:

    http://www.bb-shopping.com/products/Modena...rr=&m=1.00&cc=4

Problem I have is that the temperature readings seem to be inaccurate in the main part of the day. Yesterday, the tempreature read 14.2C but when I went outside I could tell it wasn't anywhere near that - more like 6-8C. The sensor isnt in the sun at any point so not sure how it could be affected. Yet the other night it went down to -2.6C and I dont reckon it was colder than this outside (I live at 0m sea level about 1.5 miles from the Kent Coast) so it appears that in the day it reads approx 4C higher than it should do but at night it is probably about right.

Any ideas to rectify this problem?

    Regards

    John G
