  2. Hi everyone Been lurking on this site for probably around 12 years. Used to lurk on TWO. Never post but just wanted to share some pics from Folkestone Warren this evening looking out along the white cliffs of Dover. Beautiful scenes. Very strange cloud formations from Folkestone to Lympne. A few grains of snow this eve mixed in with some sleet. Really was hoping for more from this latest cold spell but hey you win some you lose some . Let’s hope this potential upcoming SSW can deliver in the right location. It’s certainly beginning to show some trends that look quite exciting for us cold and snow fans. Fingers crossed it will deliver this time!!!!!! John
  3. Been snowing in Ashford now for 2 hours on and off. Getting heavier again
  4. Probably right!!! But you never know!! Im hoping from a selfish point of view they skirt down the east anglia coast building up intensity and then a big north easterly wind blows them inland to ME
  5. Yeah Ive just posted about this batch of showers. It does seem as if this lot will hit us sometime this afternoon. I just hope it won't just clip the coast of kent. We need those NE winds to pick up.
  6. Hi All I don't post on here much but I guess Im a "lurker" and try to make my own opinion up about what I think may happen. The last couple of days has been disappointing to say the least (in my area) especially when you look at some of the charts that were being posted in the last couple of weeks. But I like to remain optimistic and I think parts of East Anglia and the South East (largely East Kent but possibly Central Kent too) may see some snow showers (poss q light) later on today from a batch of showers currently off the coast near the Wash and Norfolk but I think by about rush hour they will be in the Kent area if they manage to keep the intensity. Have a look at the current radar on the meteox website and then also look at the forecasted hours and you will see they are making their way down the East Coast. What do you all think? Don't shoot me down if you don't think thats the case. Just a thought. I wasn't able to post a link/picture as it said the site doesn't allow me to use the "image extension on this community" John
  7. An amazing thunderstorm here in Ashford!!!! How do I post a video using iPhone?
  8. Forget what I just said. It seems to have changed now. It now seems to be going back into France. Not what it was showing 20 mins ago!!!!
  9. Hi all. I very rarely post on this site but I read others comments a fair bit and also use the charts to make up my own mind but respect the more knowledgeable people on the site - Steve Murr, Nick Sussex, Nick F, GP, Blast from the Past, TEITS etc. Perhaps someone could comment on what I am about to suggest. I was struggling to see where the precipitation may come from this evening - I know there have been the odd report of a few snowflakes in the air and I noticed some too but the BBC seemed quite sure there could be 1-2cm tonight and I thought from looking at the GFS 6-12 hr charts earlier today there could be a Kent Clipper/streamer (light in nature). But looking at the different radars I couldn't really see where this was coming from. However, I then looked at this website http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur and it appears to show some precipitation over France/Belgium moving toward the SE Kent Coast. I live in Dymchurch. It just seems strange to me as the wind appears to be coming from an North-Easterly direction from the North Sea area yet this precipitation seems to moving from a SE direction! Perhaps someone else may comment on this.
  10. I know I saw your reply. Cheers! Ive tried looking at different threads but cant find the posts. Oh well. Better get myself another vodka and keep up with this rollercoaster of emotions as Nick Sussex would say. Get the Prozac out!!!!
  11. Thanks for the information - it could well be the sun heating up the shed. The night time temps seem to be about right so surely this means the sun is affecting the temps. I will try moving it around at the weekend to experiment.
  12. HiAll I have been a "fan" of this website for a couple of years but never took part in the forums. I recently got a weather station (Modena Weather Station FW301 Ferrari) and have set it up and placed the temperature and humidity sensor on the shed approximately 2-2.5m off the ground. It is in the shade all day long and faces the house (North) - it is well within the 30 metres range. The main unit is in the lounge and there is only the one wall between the sensor and main unit. Below is an example of the weather station I have: http://www.bb-shopping.com/products/Modena...rr=&m=1.00&cc=4 Problem I have is that the temperature readings seem to be inaccurate in the main part of the day. Yesterday, the tempreature read 14.2C but when I went outside I could tell it wasn't anywhere near that - more like 6-8C. The sensor isnt in the sun at any point so not sure how it could be affected. Yet the other night it went down to -2.6C and I dont reckon it was colder than this outside (I live at 0m sea level about 1.5 miles from the Kent Coast) so it appears that in the day it reads approx 4C higher than it should do but at night it is probably about right. Any ideas to rectify this problem? Regards John G
