It does help the heating bills. Saves me burning all my logs

Let’s move on to spring quickly. None of this drawn out cold. Every year is a cold disappointment

Yes unbelievable really that there is an alert. We were out every day in the snow in the 80s. 6ft drifts great stuff.

I hope it does

I’m not trolling but I don’t think this cold
spell will come off.

Following this forum for years are we on the cusp of yet another false Dawn. Fingers crossed for a good cold
spell although I do enjoy not piling through my wood pile to heat the house.

GFS 12z looks good? I haven’t posted in a long time but I think we could be going down the right path this time

I’ve been a daily follower of this site for many years. Cold and snowy is the preferred weather. Winters of old, none of this mild muck

Long time lurker. Just wanted to say Happy New Year to you all. Your updates keep me going through a long winter. Still plenty to play for in this winter me thinks. Hoping for a chilly mid January.

I hold my hands up. It was me. I made the mistake (will I ever learn) of broadcasting "its gonna snow". Sorry

Ive been a lurker all winter, and although a wet n windy affair so far the models have hinted at a cold plunge mid February for quite a while. Spot on really. Heres to some disruptive snow!

It's time to take a break from the models, this last cold 'spell' produced very little for me, despite promising so much in the run up! 3 frosts and a 15 minute sleet shower! The NWP showed it to be much more potent, and the current output really doesn't offer me any hope. Even GPs torpedo seems to have fallen short! Maybe in late Feb with a SSW? I'm worn out though!
I'd advise any of the rest of you with model fatigue to do the same, I do it every winter at least twice, and often return refreshed ready to chase another winter holy grail on the NWP.
See you in a couple of days!
Yes a break is needed me thinks. I will come back on in a few days when I hope to see terms such as euro slug gone, atlantic blocked, scandi high building, PV smashed and sustained cold likely with plenty of PPN

Hi Steve, Thats a depressing synopsis. I read pretty much every winter post for the last few years and it does seem that the cold is not going to deliver what we want in terms of prolonged cold. I think we are all looking for a decent cold spell but it would seem Greece is the place to be.

Come on ECM pull it out of the bag. It certainly is a rollercoaster.

Its depressing reading guys and gals. Im having a break for a bit. Maybe come back in a week or so and see if anything seasonal will pop out of the proverbial bag for Christmas, but I doubt it. Thanks to all your efforts, especially Nick Sussex, John, Chinio, BFTP and Tamara (where is Tamara?). I've learnt loads over the years following this forum, just never had the confidence to post.
