  1. Not at all worried about the temperature, it's just nice to wake up to blue sky, and sunshine.
  2. And surprise, surprise, it's raining yet again. When it comes to the weather, this country really is a s...t....ole
  3. Roban I know where you're coming from. Even though I'm semi retired I still have to do a certain amount of work to keep the wolf from the door . Works been tight for about a year now, and even when a job comes in you're struggling to do it in this sh..te weather. Working outside is a completely different ballgame .
  4. Good luck trying to do that in Somerset, you'd be in and out of the house like a yo yo .
  5. Andy Bown Same here, we lived in Frome for 9 years, and I have noticed that the weather is marginally more settled over there. Shepton is a bl.. dy wind and rain magnate. We're talking about downsizing when we retire in a couple of years. Probably go back over that way again.
  6. Got up to about 16 degrees here today, got the woodstove ticking over this evening .
  7. In Absence of True Seasons I can remember when Blair repealed the licencing laws. He reckoned that we would adopt a continental cafe style culture. What he did'nt take into account was our cr,,p miserable weather/climate. What a resounding success that has been.
  8. 25th of December if this winter is anything to go by !!
  9. Actually had blue skys here today, together with a curious glowing round thing which ,I am given to understand, is quite a rare event only making occasional appearances.
  10. Went to our local garden centre the the other day, it's stuffed with Bbq's, garden furniture etc costing up to a couple of thousand pounds. No doubt some poor gullible so and so will buy it, only to have it shoved in the garage for the entire summer.
  11. SollyOlly Cheers Solly, I'm determined to get it just to spite the b,,,,,,ds. MethuselahFair play to you Pete, work it into them for as long as you can mate.
  12. Methuselah Know what you mean Pete, the missus hears me rattling as I walk down the stairs As I remarked to the nurse at the doctors the other day, "You lot are trying to keep me going, and the government is doing it's best to work me to death" oh well, only two years to go to me pension.
  13. CharlieBear9 Yep, Statin, Ramipril, Betablocker. and Asprin . had two stents put in . Must be doing some good cause I'm still upright.
  14. markyo I was the other extreme at work today, I was wearing a thermal vest, shirt , sweater, overalls, hoodie , and a wolly hat and I was still cold. I did'nt used to feel the cold until I had my heart attack 10 years ago aged 54, I suppose my medication combined with shot circulation is the cause.
  15. I don't blame them for trying, but if this winter has taught me anything it's that the Met O's long rangers are about as reliable as a babys backside.
  16. markyo There are people just down the road from me that have been flooded out three times in as many weeks. As soon as we get a days wet weather, up go the river levels again. The problem is, all the gully and storm drains out fall into that river. Once those pipes are submerged they're useless.
  17. See some people are still looking for snow, good luck to them if that floats your boat, personally, I just want it to dry up for about 6 months. This poxy rain is really starting to get on my f****** nerves.
  18. Bristawl Si Pretty much doing the same thing myself now Bris, turning 64 next month, that'll be 48 years of work. That's my bit done as far as I'm concerned. Probably just do the odd small job as, and when, but apart from that, I certainly shan't be looking too hard for it.
  19. Pretty sure my first Mother in law came down in a Flying Saucer, come to think of it, V was on at the time I caught her adjusting her human mask .
  20. Tom Quintavalle Believe it when I see it, the way things have panned out this year , I think I've got more chance of seeing Lord Lucan ride by on Shergar.
  21. Yet another crud day in not so sunny Somerset. A bit of career advice for all you youngsters. Avoid the Building Trade like the plague, because in this country it's a dead loss You are either battling the weather, or coping with yet another recession. Take it from me, your bank balance, health in later life, and mental well being will thank you for it. If you must do it, then qualify, and clear off abroad.
  22. You can watch your ridge tiles fly off, and your fences fall down, but at least you'll be warm whilst it happens . What a complete crock of s...ite our climate is.
