  1. Heading off to Chamonix, for the first time, next Thursday for a week snowboarding. Forecast, at this stage, looks good with significant snowfall over the next 5 days. Perfect timing for the third and probably final trip of the season after a great week in Nendaz couple of weeks ago and Bulgaria at the start of January. Didn't make it to Austria this year, hopefully next seaon..
  2. An increase in Scotland jobless figures for the third time in a row is not rubbish, that's a fact. It's also not rubbish that Scotland is the highest taxing country in the UK, with the obvious implication for Scotland's jobless figures. That's also a fact. Scotland has the highest budget deficit in Europe, fact. Scotland's economy continues to struggle along with underfunded public services. Fact! You lot voted for this government, deal with it.
  3. Ex CND member, got bored of being chained to a fence for weeks when it was obvious the nukes weren't going anywhere. Decades later jumps on the SNP dream of no nukes. Nukes still not going anywhere.....
  4. Scottish jobless totals rise for the third time in a row: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-38979937
  5. Not on a Royal Navy submarine he doesn't. PM issues the fire command, single officer on board pulls the trigger. In the event the UK has been hit and obliterated, there is a letter on board the sub from the PM with orders regarding Trident use. Single officer pulls the trigger.
  6. The mentality of Scottish nationalists never fails to amaze. Blames Westminster for our unemployment figures, which rose today for the third time, but then don't mind adding to the jobless figures so they can get rid of "subs and nuclear missiles" because Russia won't attack us but terrorists might. You couldn't make this crap up Just 5 days ago... https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/typhoon-jets-intercept-russian-bombers-off-scotland/ The aircraft, understood to be Tu-160’s, are often referred to as ‘Blackjack’ in the west and are supersonic strategic bombers. The Blackjack is also
  7. Well this is certainly relevant to Scotland ahead of another independence referendum so the SNP can drag us back into "a solid EU" EU split over pace of reform as crisis bites: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-38970265
  8. The articles are from last year, and I can't find the poll showing the figures quoted. Oh and I noticed you've manipulated the data as well. Jesus.....
  9. Grim reading: Scottish government cut £13 million from Aberdeen city budget https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/council-ready-to-wield-the-axe/ Job cuts, a council tax rise and seeking unpaid volunteers to work as school crossing patrollers are among the options that could save the city council £17 million.
  10. There is no doubt that some SNP supporters have the "ditch England at all costs" mentality. This is obvious when speaking with friends and work colleagues where the usual anti-English bile is spouted. There is no reasoning with them, they want to leave "England" period. With regards to your initial post, I agree completely and also wonder just how long Brexit and possibly leaving the UK would actually take. I suspect it would be at least 3 years to sort out perhaps longer. My overriding concern is the EU and what exactly Scotland is buying into, Hopefully Westminster and the Scottish
  11. Trump defence chief Mattis threatens less commitment to Nato The new US defence secretary has told Nato members that Washington will "moderate its commitment" to the alliance if they do not increase their spending on defence. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-38984947
  12. The SG should've been all over the NS decommissioning opportunities, instead its depressing to read that yards in England and Turkey have been set up to take advantage and already have orders. https://www.channel4.com/news/shell-brent-delta-oil-platform-north-sea-decomission The operation will involve the world’s heaviest vessel ever constructed – the Pieter Schelte – which is 382m long and weighs more than 400,000 GT. The 23,500 tonne “topside” of the Brent Delta platform will be lifted by huge hydraulic arms on the Pieter Schelte, which Shell says will be one of the heaviest
  13. Agreed 100% The problem is the far east are far more competitive when it comes to ship building, South Korea being the obvious example. No wonder that North Sea is full of production platforms, drilling rigs, FPSOs made abroad. We're uncompetitive. You have to go back 30 years??, to see the last NS oil rig being built in Scotland.
  14. Possible future work for the Scottish ship yards will almost certainly go to English yards should we go independent with obvious effects for jobs and the economy. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/scottish-economy-cannot-without-uk-shipbuilding-contracts/
